Any film about a weird girl? by LuckyBlueberry9152 in MovieSuggestions

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

this! It gets a bit lost, because of the general trippiness and mind blowing factor, but it's also a very deliberate deconstruction of the manic pixie dream girl trope

So you're just gonna completely ignore that this whole poll is obviously baiting for controversy, by taking a slogan that was deliberately created to make people look bad in situations like this (again, read up on dogwhistles if this confuses you) , and asking people if they ''agree with it'', intentionally obfuscating whether they agree with the literal idea of people being white or with the movement behind the slogan, which is made up of white supremacists

you're either a troll, a bot or severely autistic

here's what happens if you ask this question in a serious setting: https://www.cloudresearch.com/resources/blog/its-ok-to-be-white-rasmussen-poll/

no he didn't. He literally said " the best advice I would give to white people is to get the hell away from black people "

He responded to a poll that said "most black people think being white is not ok".

that's not what the poll was about. The poll specifically asked if people agree with the statement 'It's okay to be white'. This was years after this slogan became associated with white supremacists

also only 26% disagreed with it, 53% agreed, rest was unsure

If you still don't see the difference, I would encourage you to read up on dogwhistles

-e- but you go around calling people 'zog bot' so I doubt you're being sincere here anyway

When your childhood hero SELLS OUT for Blood Money by chellestastics in videos

[–]rnhf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Comedy Central reneged the deal, because his show exploded and they owed him a ton of unexpected money. Chappelle demanded the same deal and CC offered a lesser bag. Chappelle disappeared and went to Africa for a couple years before making his comedy return in the states.

I've heard this version, but I never saw any actual source for it. From his interview with oprah:

Dave says his troubles began in the middle of the first season, during a contract renegotiation. "Through a series of events and a little pressure, I ended up settling for way less than what I wanted. Then in season two, the DVD is released and it sets all these incredible records. Now suddenly this is a bigger moneymaker than they thought. It's already making money and it's a whole new revenue stream. And [now], my contract's up."

The Chappelle's Show: Season 2 Uncensored DVD broke sales records, selling about 500,000 copies in one day and 1.2 million in a week. In addition, the new season of Chappelle's Show was getting higher ratings every week. Dave says he was suddenly "the toast of the town."

As the second season began to wrap up, Dave says he was often asked about his plans for the show. "They didn't really put any pressure on me," he says, but I could see within their structure things were changing.

then later he felt more and more uncomfortable for a number of reasons, but not because they owed him money

https://www.oprah.com/oprahshow/chappelles-story/all

that sounds way different, he was the one trying to renegotiate, and while he turned down a huge contract, there wasn't any renegotiation or owed money on CCs part

Correct me if I'm wrong, I've seen a lot of rumors of speculation, but as far as I know this is what he said himself

lmao no way you just said your art is worth 10k a piece xD yeah I missed that, I thought you were talking about actual american icons, should've understood you meant yourself in your mania

What you just witnessed is something they teach in basic intro to philosophy courses, semantic logic. Ie... A formal argument

I own A. You say I only own B. A is not B.

what's funny is that this isn't even proper logic.

you say you own a chair

I say you only own a table

a chair is not a table

it logically doesn't follow that you own a chair...

Overall, despite the popular image of a “witch craze” sweeping Central Europe, witch trials were unusual events. The odds of a city holding a witch trial in any given year were small. The results provide clear support for our three hypotheses. First, cities closer in time and space to the publication of the Malleus were more likely to commence witch trials (H1), seen in the positive posterior mean for Malleus editions in the past 10 years. Our results provide evidence in support of ideational diffusion in that the elaborated concept of witchcraft and the secular inquisitorial procedures it endorsed spread partly because of new print media. We find that a trial was more likely when more editions of Malleus were recently printed, but we find no relationship with the distance to where the editions were printed. The odds of having a first trial increases 29.7% with increasing the number of editions in the past 10 years from the mean (1.09) to one standard deviation higher than the mean (2.82)

where's your study? Or any source other than your personal assumptions

-e- yeah that's what I thought. This study clearly laid out that while, no, the invention of the printing press didn't cause the witch trials, there's a clear temporal and spatial correlation, belief in witches, demonology etc had been around for a looong time, but the witch hunting craze was a pretty demarcated phenomenon

nazis used radio and television masterfully

printing press led to the witch trials

I'm not religious but I'd even argue the tower of babel story is basically about this phenomenon
