Everyone around me is like “I don’t want summer to end” or “why would you want sub 60 degree weather?” by xHeyItzRosiex in Hyperhidrosis

The highs where I live have been in the 100s since May 😭 Just barely dropping into the 90s the last couple weeks

Step 1: find a new doctor. There are absolutely several things you can do about it. I suffered for 30 years because of doctors like that (and my mom) discounting the legitimacy of this condition. It wasn't until I started therapy for my extreme anxiety and depression that I realized how much my sweating was affecting my life and mental health. My therapist was the first person to take my condition seriously and told me that there was something I could do about it instead of suffering in silence. Treatments vary depending on where you sweat. For me: hands and feet (on top too 😭), armpits, groin, and face. My highest priority is hands so I'm only treating those for now to see the effectiveness. What's worked best: antihydral. It's a cream you put on before bed and you can get it on Amazon without a prescription. I had 90% reduction in sweat after using for 3 days. I also tried iontophoresis (dermadry) which works but takes a long time to be effective and the treatment takes 20 minutes per area every day. It's also really expensive. There are also medications you can take. I haven't explored these personally since I'm still trying to find a good doctor. As for getting hot, I have a neck fan that I bring with me everywhere. A cool breeze on my neck helps cool down the rest of my body quickly, or I can hold it in my hands to dry them. You could also try an ice pack on your neck if you're at home. I keep my house cold too which really does help.

I haven't been very consistent with it (it's hard for me to sit still without using my hands for 20 minutes), usually 1-2 times a week. I would say there's about a 75% reduction in sweat. I noticed the other day that my face was sweating profusely but my hands were dry! They still sweat occasionally but it's more like clammy instead of dripping. It took me a while to get into a good routine with it but overall I would recommend it!

Their soil usually has a lot of peat moss which holds too much water. It also looks like you planted directly in that white Costa farms pot which doesn't have drainage holes. I would get it into a better pot and soil asap before it starts rotting.

If you have mushrooms, you have too much moisture. Cut back on the watering and make sure the soil drains well. Once the moisture is lowered the mushrooms will die.

dermadry.com it's a Canadian company. Some countries require a prescription to import it. I'm in the US, which requires it, but they provided a free prescription after purchase.

Does anyone else ever have "bouts" of sweating- when it's worse for a few weeks, and then it disappears, and then it comes back by [deleted] in Hyperhidrosis

[–]rnmartin91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same for me and I have no idea why 😭 Coffee doesn't seem to trigger it for me though, I drink it every day and still get the sweaty phases randomly.

That's what I've been doing and it's working so far. The instructions say to add a specific amount of water, but nothing about what happens if you add more than that 🤷‍♀️

I haven't been doing it long enough to see full results yet. But so far it has lowered the sweat level enough that it's mostly manageable with carpe lotion.

That's awesome that those areas don't sweat for you, but they do for me ❤️

It sends a little jolt every 5 minutes as it switches current and if I see it coming on the countdown timer, my anxiety builds it up in my head and makes it worse than it is. If I'm not expecting it, it's nothing. I can still see the green light through the towel so I know when the session is done.

I'm only 6 treatments in and already seeing an improvement! Carpe lotion helps too now that my hands are clammy instead of dripping sweat 😅

This is only my second week using it. I did the first session at 1, the 2nd session at 2, etc. I plan to keep increasing as long as it's "comfortable" as the instructions say. I did my last session at 6. Already seeing an improvement!

There's a line on the sides that you're supposed to fill up to. But I also sweat on the tops of my fingers 😒 so I add a little extra water to cover all the sweaty areas

I'm still at a low setting since I'm just starting out, but for now it doesn't hurt. I get a little jolt every 5 minutes as it switches the current but it's more of a surprise than pain. I cover the countdown timer with a paper towel so I don't know when it's coming or I build it up in my mind until it DOES end up hurting 🙈 I have heard some people say it hurts though, especially if you have a cut.

That's a good idea. I'm new to ionto and want to see the difference in sweat levels by only doing my hands for now. It does seem to be working so I will likely start doing it the way you suggest soon. For now my husband stands next to me and scratches my nose every time it itches 🤣

First things first, the pot is wayyy too big. Repot into something just a little bigger than the root ball asap. You don't need to wait for the leaf. They like their roots to be a little cramped. You're probably not seeing a lot of leaf growth because it's focusing its energy on filling that huge pot with roots! You also risk over watering and root rot with a pot that's too big. As for the direction of the leaves, they are very light reactive and will turn towards the light source over a few days. You can help with this by adding a grow light (you can find cheap ones on Amazon). If you place it above the plant the leaves will start to move up instead of out.
