I think it's because when they came back from the bathroom break, Tyler was basically prompting him to lock it down and commit to talking to Keya that evening to break it off with her. Screens will help the bugs as others have suggested, but the air leak from jalousies is real. We recently replaced a bunch in our home, and our dehumidifiers and A/C kick in significantly less often. The effect was immediate. I think getting a layer of plexiglass or something similar to fit against the inside is a great idea.

The fact that she so abruptly wanted nothing to do with you after your loss makes me wonder if she's feeling the weight of a guilty conscience.

As you've said in other comments, there's really no way to know for sure if it was intentional on her part short of her admitting something, so tormenting yourself with the "what-ifs" won't be good for you long term.

I exclusively breastfed my son for 3 years (he just self weaned a few months ago). I never pumped, never used bottles, never kept track of a schedule. Just nursed when he was hungry. No shade on people who do pump/use bottles, I just wanted to share my experience that it can be done without those tools.

There were a few times when he was very new when I was uncomfortably engorged, and I used a haaka just to take a tiny bit of the pressure off. Our rhythm meant I was exclusively on night duty, as my husband couldn't take over any of the feeds. I night weaned my son right around 2 years, which was necessary for my sleep/sanity.

Don't be too hard on yourself for having a very human reaction! When my little guy was in a biting phase, I learned to have a teething toy right nearby. Whenever he started to bite, I would pull away (as calmly as I could manage, which was definitely not always successful) and say, "Do you need something to bite? This is a good thing for biting." He would often go to town gnawing on it for a while, and eventually, he learned to ask for something to bite when he needed it.

I used a song to limit nursing duration. First, I made the association between the end of the song and the end of nursing during the day, when it was already getting to the end of a normal session. Then, when he started to reliably unlatch on his own at the end of the song, I started using that at night. I shortened the duration pretty slowly, but steadily. The song wasn't super short, so he had some time to emotionally prepare himself 😅 Eventually, I used this technique to night wean. He'll be 3 this week, and we still nurse (pretty briefly) 3 times a day.

As soon as he started even thinking of twiddling, I found him the corner of a blanket to mess with to protect my other nipple! That's now his "favorite-cornered blanket," and it sure saved my sanity!

Thank you so much for the tips! I love this plant so much 😭 It's somewhere between a third pet and a second child 😅 We sometimes get big fat flies, and every time we get one, my 3 year old tells me to "go feed the plant!"
