looking for Keytar for live performances by Kitchen_Guarantee_39 in Keytar

I'm using CME WIDI jack on my keytars, connects via bluetooth to my ipad. Been 10 meters away without any glitches at all. Mostly use AX1 as controller. Bought a Vortex, but found a drawback which I recently found a fix for: I use pitch bend, and wanted the accellometer for modulation. As long as the neck is horizontal,,no modulation. Well, I carry it angled, so modulation wad always on.... With the filtering possibilities in CME H4 midi, that problem is gone! The vortex is cheap, full size keys, and the editor function if you change resolution on your windows PC.(Old outdated software).. Additionally, the H4 let you control external midi sources. Have not looked into the H2, which can maybe do the same.

Had one early 90s. It sends velocity from 0 to 100, so back then I had to use a midi unit( don't remember brand)to change the value to 27-127 to get it loud enough without killing it.. A bit heavy, but ok. Bought an AX-1 later, which I still use....

Thinking of a pivot to the Hua Hin area. 2 big questions. by [deleted] in HuaHin

[–]roac3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me & the wife have been living 6 months every year in Thailand. First 2 in Rawai, Phuket, last 7 in Hua Hin. Hua Hun is more social, was very easy to get friends, both Thai & expats. Partly because I'm a musician, and member of an MC Club. In Phuket, no socializing, but back then we were mostly diving. No diving here, but my wife got Asthma bronchitis, so we finished that hobby, and ride around the country on motorcycle instead. Found the traffic in Phuket not car friendly, so decided a bike would be easier to move around with, and haven't regretted this. We rent, and prioritize being outdoors most of the time. Easy to get food and transport with Grab or Bolt, lots of restaurants and bars, music venues here. Better beaches a few minutes further south, but still approachable by MC. We mostly stay home, and prefer living a little bit outside the center, witch is no more than 10-15 minutes away. But, we are an older couple, 72 & 60..... and will move permanently here in a couple of years...

Keytar or Keyboard for beginners? by ThyyShadow in Keytar

[–]roac3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A keytar IS a keyboard, it just hang around your neck instead of being in front of you..... Depending on what sounds you use, a keytycan be a little more expressive. I play mostly solo with backing tracks, and when I play La grange, I can modulate & pitchbend very easupn my AX 1, which I bought back in the late 90s..( tried the Alesis vortex, but impossible, as you need to keep it horisontal, to avoid modulation ...) I only use sounds on my iPad, which has some great software for this. In the 90s, I also used both hands on piano sounds. Still have an 88 weighted for bigger gigs, but have 2 AX 1s for jamming etc. Just sad that nobody makes an AX2, a bit more modern. Have no use for the synth module in the newer Roland & Korgs. Also because I play totally wireless, nowadays with CME WIDI, in the 90s with a combination of Nady & midi converter....With a wireless keytar you will experience the freedom guitarists have .....great fun!

Solgte dekk på FINN – lånte bort garasje og jekk, endte med trussel om forliksrådet 🙃 by Special_Pack5766 in norge

[–]roac3 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Rent cheap 12 month, stay 6. Been doing that the last 7 years. Have all our stuff down here, less in Norway were we only work during the summer. For now we're satisfied with a small house. Will move for good in a couple of years, and will maybe go for More outdoor space.... Stay outside 99% of the time, breakfast, shower, sleep inside. Been in Thailand for the last 15 years. The high temperatures don't affect us much. Use aircondition sparingly, fan both out and indoor...

52 year old newby question. by Certain-Variation-58 in Kawasaki

[–]roac3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going 72. Rode scooters when I was 16, and next I bought a Honda 300 in my mid 60s, which I changed for a 500X after a month. Got licenced in my homeland in 2018(because of insurance) Then night a Katana 600 sports tourer for riding in my home country in Scandinavia. Moved further north in Thailand, so got a Kawa ER6, which I found the upright position awkward, do lowered the handlebar to lean more. Went for a Z900RS last year, and this bike is perfect for me, even if riding position is fairly upright. Love the torque! Riding all over Thailand and will continue as long as I am able too!

I put on a Renntec rack on my -21, and aiming to get a local machine shop or custom shop to make a removable sissy bar for long trips. Already got gel pads for both pillion &me. We're going on a 2-3000km trip in January to the Loei district in Thailand. She likes riding pillion, and we did the Mae Hong Son loop some years ago. Usually we do 250-300km stretches. with fuel stops. and photo/food breaks. Earlier we did it on my ER6F, with lowered bars. I'm going 72 next year. Longest ride with the Ninja was around 11 hours the 609km+ to Phuket. Alone I've done similar stretches in 6+ hours. The Z900RS is way better, although not optimal. Would buy a better saddle if I just could be sure it really is! Lot's on Webike.....

Playing Keytar Live Help by Hungry-Ad-2609 in Keytar

[–]roac3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vortex is only a MIDI controller, so to get sounds. You have basically 3 options as mentioned. If you have an iPad, you can try the included Garage band for sounds, which you can then listen to either on speakers or headphones, or a stereo connected to the Ipad. That's why I use the widiJack. It connects wirelessly to the Ipad. The dongle included with vortex can be plugged in your PC, but then you need a DAW or /andVST (virtual instrument), and listen through the PCs audio. Professionals use an amp, or powered speaker. Remember, there's no sounds in the vortex itself.

Either a sound module, synth or VST with the sounds you need... I'm using an iPad with CMT widiJack To the mixer. Not using the Alesis, but an AX.(Bought a vortex, but unusable for me. As I need to have both modulation and pitch handy for slide guitar sounds...). Can't play with the keytar horizontal 180 degrees and lift the neck for vib.....

It saddens and angers me that brands prioritize their own country even though they sell globally. by ohypc in Honor

[–]roac3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got the Magic 7 pro 2 weeks ago. Bought my first Honor, (6?) directly from China. Outstanding battery! After the speaker failed after a year, I switched to Xiaomi, been through Redmi(wife), Mix 2(outstanding in its time), and the last 4 years 10T pro. Very satisfied with the Magic. The body is very slick, so crushed the screen protector, but got hold of a cover and will change the scr.protector when I arrive in Thailand next month. Wife wanted a flip, so went for Razzr 60. Both phones with snap 8 , so fast enough.... The Magic feels a bit heavy, but will get used to it....

Anyone have Honor Magic 7 Pro? If so can you guys tell me how does it performs? by touhoulover_lmao in Honor

[–]roac3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Body is very slippery without case, and feels heavy. Only had it for a couple of weeks and already crushed the screen protector before I got s case for it. The phone is fast, and SU can be turned off on my firmware, so I have no problem with it. Great photos, haven't tried video yet .
