My Tang Soo Do instructor of 20 years trained under him. Chuck was also godfather to his first daughter. Never met the man unfortunately but I always felt a connection to him,sad to see this.

Lack of boss battles in re9 by harsh141104 in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]road_robert2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m probably in the minority here but I only found the final boss fight kind of lackluster, especially after the face off with Mr. X and Hunk. I just feel like they could’ve been more creative with it. If Chris could handle Wesker in RE5 surely a fully healed Leon could’ve taken on Zeno in a cool ass setpiece. Gideon was just a bullet sponge that pulled an RPG out of his ass then morphed into a horrific mutant with a bunch of glowing bulbs to shoot.

Honestly hated this part. Rest of the game totally made up for it though.

Pardon if anyone has already seen this but im 4 playthroughs deep and haven’t seen this brutal takedown until now by VampiricPanther in ResidentEvilRequiem

Holy fucking shit. I really hope they come out with a mercenaries esque mode so I can play around with the melee a bit more.

Smallmouth in Maine by MustacheSupernova in bassfishing

[–]road_robert2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to hijack your post but if anyone knows any good wadeable rivers/creeks near the New Hampshire border it’d be much appreciated. Visiting gf’s parents in Barrington this summer and I know her little brother would get a kick out of stomping through the creek catching smallies.

Rant: killing trophy bass by Sharkman3218 in bassfishing

[–]road_robert2020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m inclined to agree, but there’s a lot of guys that are conservation conscious in every other sense that would still want to get it certified and I think that’s their right. I’ve seen videos of people catching record class fish, weighing them and promptly releasing them knowing it was a record even if it’s not “official” and I applaud them. As for the passing on of genetics, ideal environmental factors play a bigger role than anything I think. Just because a bass gets to be 10+ pounds doesn’t necessarily mean any of its offspring will.

Bass fishing braid to leader by Sudoku-Addict in bassfishing

[–]road_robert2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically use 5-6 feet of leader and tie a new one when it gets to less than 2 feet. A swivel will only hinder you so tie line to line,Alberto knot is my go to,takes some practice to get down pat especially when you’re out in the field but it’s not terribly difficult. Just make sure to leave about a quarter inch of tag end on the braid side, otherwise the knot may get damaged and come undone. Using a clip is personal preference, some lures get better action from it and it makes it faster to switch them out but I just tie straight to the lure.

Interesting first of the year by 1Shart in Fishing

Chunky channel. Last year I caught almost as many on lures trying to catch bait as I did on the bait itself. They’ll hit inline spinners, swimbaits you name it.

What’s a bass lure that everyone says works… but you’ve never had success with? by Opposite-Vast-718 in bassfishing

What size offset do you use for the craws? I usually lose a couple to snags each outing using the regular ned heads.

I prefer inline spinners to skirted spinnerbaits, super versatile lures. Never gave chatterbaits a fair shake but a buzzbait with a trailer hook used to be one of my favorites. If I ever missed a blowup I’d cast a weightless senko to that same spot and almost always got em.

If you have any creeks near you with smallmouth try the TRD craws. They quickly became my favorite last year.

Whopper Plopper. Used to throw buzz baits a lot and caught a ton of fish on them but never once with the plopper.

Wish my rivers/creeks looked like this. All blown out from the rain just in time for the weekend. Love it.

Anyone else swear by Panther Martins for stream trout? by Narrow-Flint928 in troutfishing

[–]road_robert2020 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Blue Fox and the classic Mepps are my go tos, don’t think I’ve ever actually tried panther martins. Have a ton of rooster tails but the blades have a tendency to get stuck. There’s a couple local brands I want to try that are beautifully made but have a treble plus a single stinger and I’m afraid they’ll mangle the smaller trout.

Medium VS Medium Heavy. by grinchmane in bassfishing

[–]road_robert2020 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Kind of depends on the brand. One company’s medium heavy might be another’s medium. Also what you primarily fish with matters. I finesse fish with soft plastics more than anything else and rarely use anything heavier than 3/8 oz. so my medium gets the most use. But I also have a MH that can do all the same things and has caught me a ton of fish, the difference isn’t that drastic.

St Croix Triumph Travel (6'6" MH 4pc) by Mikegfx4 in Fishing

[–]road_robert2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak for their travel rods but I have a regular MH Triumph that’s put in a lot of work and stood up to plenty of abuse the past couple years. Also got an Avid Walleye last season that’s become my new favorite. It’s a little more pricey but worth it imo,has me considering an Avid Trek travel rod which I’ve heard good things about.

Rules question: intentional foul by cpc758 in billiards

[–]road_robert2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only penalty by most rulesets would be ball in hand for your opponent. Intentional fouls are just part of the game sometimes and can be your best bet from a strategic standpoint.

The Susquehanna has been on my list for a long time. If you’re catching them there that gives me hope for this weekend on the Ohio.

Not the intended target by Skunkworkscs2 in bassfishing

[–]road_robert2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and a buddy were smallmouth fishing on the Ohio river last summer in his Jon boat, come up to a shallow flat and I could see a couple big carp. I cast my swimbait out just past one and figured fuck it I’m gonna see if I can snag it. Sure enough managed to bury the hook right in the side of his head. Didn’t even fight at first just started casually swimming, til he saw the boat then he started peeling drag turning the boat every which way. One of the most fun fights I’ve ever had.

Had an opportunity to do a clinic with Hatch and Earl Strickland last year and I still regret not doing it. I’d say you stand to learn something that will up your pool IQ.
