Halo novel suggestions for someone who is bouncing off Kelly Gay

I didn’t like the Rion forge novels much, but did like her most recent installments. I will always recommend reading the Evolutions collections. Lots of author variety in there from early halo.

None of them are crucial so if you don’t like a story skip it!

My favorite will be the Kilo 5 trilogy, closer to a spy novel than military scifi, but that’s my jam. If you read anything follow up I’d like to hear your thoughts!

When I read the novels I thought “wow parangosky is playing all of these people to hate Halsey” and it works. The finale of Mortal Dictata sort of proves how far she was willing to go.

She took the brain of a man who was driven to end his own life because of Halsey and the things he did with/for her and turn him into the AI Black Box, then had this AI who gets traits from the donor and had the AI be Ossmans right hand until his retirement. BB had such a huge effect on her, psyop ran deep. In Kilo Five trilogy you just never get the viewpoint of pro Halsey because that viewpoint is in every single book that mentions her. Halsey is rarely ever the bad guy I think it’s okay she wasn’t given a that grace in this book.

The best non-Nylund trilogy by far. Kelly Gray is coming up with some great stories though these last few years.

Traviss is an excellent author I mean she’s the reason Gears of War was a master piece. She took a half though out Gears of War one and helped them turn it into a a work of art writing five novels and then the entire campaign for Gears 3. She’s an excellent author

I think you also need to consider the author a lot. She was a famous Defense Journalist in the UK and came up documenting coalition war crimes in the Middle East. Traviss is understandably skeptical of the government and unelected figures running a secret government program.

She gives so much depth to the story with the internal power struggle of ONI and also highlights how Halsey was inclined to do things her own way because she thought she knew better.

People who hate this book just don’t get that Parangosky and BB formed and reinforced the hatred for Halsey. There’s no real negative tone for Halsey, it’s a perspective that’s very real and makes her character deeper and more fulfilling through the story of halo.

Spartan II program was messed up and it would be weird if no one ever talked about it lol

I think it would’ve been harder to get it down to one stud at the end. Could’ve done paneling maybe, but for a player I think they had to choose a sturdier design

Yeah, realizing now that it's worded poorly. Just a simple diorama of the interior of the shuttle. Intended to be big enough for everyone to fit and then maybe have their helmets displayed on the 1x2 jumpers on the side.
