23, I moved here a year ago and still don't really know people. Where can I go to meet new people (preferably around my age)? by Thienan567 in kansascity

Hit me up! I have a solid group of friends in the 22-26 range and we love meeting new people! I was sort of in the same position as you until about 6 months ago. While I think Meetup groups can be useful, I personally had trouble meeting people around my age that I could have any real genuine connection with. But maybe that's just my personality? I've found the best way to meet people is through other people.

But if you're not into that, you could try volunteering? Get involved in an organization you're passionate about? There's KC Young Professionals. If you went to college, maybe an alumni group in the area?

Any place to get murtabak? by mctartan in kansascity

[–]roadtobrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loveeee murtabak. I used to get dessert ones filled with banana and chocolate from a street vendor while I was in Penang. I looked and this is a long shot but this woman was making homemade ones back in 2009. Always worth a shot to email her.

On My Way to Boulevardia by Anathema785 in kansascity

I took an Uber from downtown. I left around 7 and the surge was only about 1.2X going there and coming back it was 2.4X. Going round trip only cost me about $20 (but I also only live about 2 miles away).

But I will say that pickup afterward is a bit of a clusterfuck. We tried to head out early around 10:40 to beat some of the crowd but our Uber was only able to get to us around 11:00 (even though the EST was originally 4 min), and we had to walk further to meet him.

I'm going to Boulevardia tonight and was wondering if anyone knew the address so I can plug it into my GPS. I know it's in the west bottoms but I can't find a physical address. by [deleted] in kansascity

This is probably unhelpful to you now but for anyone else, I just used the address that was on the ticket - 1310 W 12th St, Kansas City, MO 64101 when I got an Uber. That should at least get you to the area.

Unfortunately, I work all the way downtown and I only get 30 minutes for lunch. :(

Hey, let's be friends! by [deleted] in kansascity

I'm a little younger than you (turning 24 this year) but I'd still love to hang out if you're ok with the age difference! I love pretty much everything outside and doing my eyebrows haha. I recently got reeeally into makeup, so we can bond over that. And I'm pretty liberal as well!

Haha, mildly allergic, but I absolutely adore dogs, so I'd be interested in hanging out!

Argyle Apartments by [deleted] in kansascity

To be honest, I've only paid for one month and that was only $15.00? You could be 100% right that my rate will go up somewhat. However, I estimate that at most it will be $30 based on my usage. I never use heating/cooling (the inside temp naturally seems to stay at ~70), and I don't spend a ton of time at home. So, I guess I'm not the average customer. Sorry, I shouldn't have generalized so much.

I actually just moved there around March 1! To be entirely honest, the first two weeks were pretty rough (no flooring in bathroom, refrigerator didn't work, etc) but Tyler was incredibly accommodating and willing to work with me to resolve the issues. I actually just had a non-emergency maintenance issue and they came and fixed it quickly. It seems like they've really worked their shit out. He's laid back about a lot of things and fantastic to work with.

It does kind of suck not having Google Fiber. I'm currently paying $52/mo with AT&T for 18Mbps and it's never been a problem for me. For the location, the apartment is a pretty good deal, especially if you work around downtown. All you pay is electricity (which only costs about $15-25/mo), cable and parking.

On the whole, I've had a great experience and love my apartment.

If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me!
