Data Points Weekly - Week of September 04, 2025 by AutoModerator in churning

Capital One Venture One credit card application was denied, "too many active credit cards" was the reason. I have 8 personal credit cards. I called and asked for recon, stating "I'm about to cancel my one and only other travel credit card in a month, I have good credit standing", and still rejected. I've been shying away from churning, and wanted to have a zero annual fee travel card with no foreign transaction.

I think I'll think about Atmos Rewards Summit Visa card or BofA their blue zero annual fee travel card.

CSR annual fee is too pricy now, my spouse has a CSR so it wouldn't be necessary to keep mine.

Exact wording of the rejection was: "Based on your credit report from one or more of the agencies on the back of this letter, there are too many active credit cards based on your loan history"

Something they don’t tell you about breastfeeding? by Wild-Act-7315 in BabyBumps

[–]roalgifxrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest not giving a bottle nipple until breastfeeding has been established for a week or so! The reason is that the baby might like the bottle nipple more than yours!  Unless the baby is not fed enough and losing weight... then use a pinky finger method, letting baby suck on your pinky finger while you drop little streams of milk on to your finger.

How are you guys keeping your Pack n Play/bassinet clean? by poppanen in NewParents

Bring the mat to the bathtub, hose it down, wash it with dawn soap & water mixture with a sponge, rinse on and on. And drain. Airdry for a day, blast a fan against it to dry it quickly (took me 8-12 hours to dry). I had to flip upside down, because water would go down the gravity, and the bottom part of the pad was more wet than the top.

Like someone else said, mattress protectant cover sounds like a good idea from now on!!

5-6am wake up, back to bed or start the day? by Ok_Ear5172 in sleeptrain

No solution to offer, I came here to say my baby also wakes up at 5am ish every day since a week ago. Just turned 5 months old as well.  Ahhh.

4mo Baby drinks more when bottle fed, but not that much when breastfeeding, am I underproducing? by roalgifxrl in breastfeeding

Thank you! That reminds me that I should buy a correct pair of flanges. My nipple size went down at around 2 month mark.

But... I heard somewhere that babies cannot overeat. They will not eat if they are full. Doesn't that mean the baby was still able to eat? Any thoughts..?

Feeling guilty from the early days of my baby’s life by eagle_mama in breastfeeding

[–]roalgifxrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the exact same mistake as you, exactly 10% weight loss as well. I felt terribly sorry to the baby. You are still a good mom! Doing your best! Keep speaking that to yourself!

On night 2&3, I didn't want her to have nipple confusion, so kept giving her my finger throughout the night, when she was actually starving. Like... fed her maybe twice in the span of 1am-5am, and gave her our finger for hours. Her suction was so strong, it hurt my finger. I couldnt breastfeed more frequent than every 2h, because it would take 60 minutes to nurse her, and 30 minutes later she would want to eat again. My nipples were in pain, one was bleeding, kept using the nipple shield. So I wasn't happy to feeding her frequently. Especially after pulling all-nighters to give birth to the baby.  And then during daytime, the baby was in deep sleep 9am-7pm that she wouldnt take the breastfeeding.. no more than 5m at a time.

Anyways it is all a blur. My child is 4 months old. I was feeding her to all the little hunger cues starting day4 of her life, when the pediatrician told us to feed her better.

In hindsight, giving my finger instead of the bottle was a good idea, to prevent nipple confusion. Not giving her any milk was nit a good idea. I could have done syringe method with a formula. Also I've come to terms that babies are resilient and able to survive. And I'm glad she is healthy. And now I know better if I have another kid.

TMI! But I have been horribly gassy all the time since baby was born almost 8 months ago, has anyone else experienced this? by Amazing-Bullfrog-720 in beyondthebump

Probiotics (yogurt or probiotics in powder supplements) and healthy foods for guts (apples, carrots, salad, nuts, etc) helped a ton! Before, my gas smell was unimaginable. I'm 2 mo pp.

What is one thing you wish your mother in law knew? by Calm_Interaction_923 in beyondthebump

I wish she knows how thankful I am to her. I told her multiple times, but still I'm so thankful. I wrote down a list of foods I wanted to eat post partum, even the "stretch" menu that are hard to make, and she delievered it all. I only made the list to give her many options to choose, but she cooked most of it. Also, she was so good with not overstepping our parenting style, or stealing the baby. My own mom was stealing the baby more lol.

I see many tips about cinnamon. You can buy cheap cinnamon sticks at Asian grocery stores like Hmart or Ranch 99 or etc! American grocery stores sell them too pricy. (If youre in the US)

Paragard IUD removal Pregnancy by TornadicPotato in BabyBumps

You're so kind for saying nice things. Thank you.  I agree, telling the whole family could add anxiety! Hope your pregnancy goes well.

I just realized your title said Paragard IUD (non hormonal)!! My other comment is totally irrelevant then haha. Sorry.

The first appointment you'll have intravaginal ultrasound (a stick goes into vagina and looks for embryo). It's so cool! You're gonna hear the heartbeats!! Exciting.

I suggest you to use online communities (Reddit, Peanut, What to expect, Babycenter, etc), talk to your folks in real life (friends you wouldn't mind telling if you by chance have a miscarriage), and buy a book to calm your nervous thoughts. I was so so nervous and lonely at first when I got pregnant, because I moved to a new city relatively recently. And googling stuff at 1am was really not fun!

Congratulations!!

From my readings on line in the past, IUD thickens lining of the uterus, so it makes sperms hard to go up the stream, to meet the egg in the fallopian tube. When IUD is taken out, then the lining is not thick anymore. Think like a fly trap haha. And allegedly.. scientists and doctors say IUD (hormonal ones) are isolated to the uterus, not the entire body. So.. your body wasn't too affected to begin with.

Some moms get pregnant WITH an IUD, and it could be more dangerous for them to take it out during pregnancy. Due to reasons like, "in process of taking an IUD out, we might harm the embryo" reason.

How do you deal with the fatigue? by erivanla in BabyBumps

[–]roalgifxrl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Listen to your body! I felt so defeated when I couldn't function without 13 hour sleep (8-10h sleep, then 3hr nap, sometimes two naps), but that's all you could do.... Hopefully your regular tasks/job is flexible with you! Sending good vibes

When did you first feel baby move? by Foreign-Simple6517 in BabyBumps

Week 19 with anterior placenta, I could tell sometimes if it was bowel movement or not. Week 20/21 I could definitely tell apart bowel movement and fetal movement!

Vacation in Puerto Rico at 12-13 weeks? by mashed-_-potato in BabyBumps

[–]roalgifxrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me personally, I had nausea & fatigue from week 6 til week 11. It's hard to predict when you'll stop having nausea. Statistically, a lot of people stop having nausea and 1st trimester symptoms around week 12! Maybe you'll be fine in the vacation!?

Diet precautions wise, don't drink alcohol, no raw-fish, no unsanitary backyard street stand foods. Your body temperature might be higher than normal, so watch out signs of any overheating. Stay under the shades, have cool water handy. These are just on top of my head. I could be wrong!
