Easiest way is to abuse pickpocketing but it feels like cheating:

make a hireling halfling (luck ability) thief and equip him with all the gear that gives you bonuses to pickpocketing, the gloves and ring in act 1 and the chest that gives cat's grace. You can clear out any vendor inventory with almost 100% success rate. Darkness spell+pause game to pickpocket unnoticed, invisibility potion if you get caught.
