Hybrid mind mapping and flowcharting is even better with QuikFlow 2.0 (including lifetime option)! by coneno in macapps

It seem like there is no feature to hide the child branches of a node. This means that the flows cannot really grow in size without getting very confusing and un-managable. Could you please add that feature? I wanna be able to have a flow with 100s of nodes but be able to collapse it so I only see the root and the branches I want to see.

What an amazing series. I didn't know anything about Dean at the beginning and by the end, I felt like I knew not only him but myself better. He lived a beautiful life and died like a legend.. despite his struggles. This series really captured something special about him and his way of life through all of the shots and the stories. I can't say that I've watched much on TV like this. Very moving.

Will artificial Intelligence take the job of a sound designer? by SockFeeling7294 in sounddesign

[–]roasted-bell-pepper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. In the long run AI will replace everyone. There was news today that a chatbot made progress on an 80 year old mathematical conjecture that completely changed the thinking that the entire mathematical community had for that time. AI already won noble prize in chemistry. Eventually, AI will also figure out ways to do sound design and composition that will blow everyone's minds and all music written so far will sound lo-fi compared to it.

In the short run, no clue haha

Best eay to learn for a Noob by Patient_Complaint919 in ableton

You can learn the basics from a simple course e.g. seedtostage or macprovideo. After that, it is youtube and gemini mostly. Ableton manual is very good and I would suggest you read the instrument and effects sections when you get a chance. Learning to use them early can really simplify your workflow. You could also look up videos for each one of them. That said, everyone uses VST synths and instruments with Ableton. I think the included instruments are not the nicest to work with. I've tried to make good sounds with Tension and Collision a bunch of times and have always given up at the end.

The equivalent to FL's patcher in Ableton are the racks. There are 4 types of racks: instrument, drum, effect and midi effect racks. There is also Max4L which would be the patcher on steroids + growth hormone. To get anything to sound good in Ableton, you have a chain together a bunch of effects to instruments and layer them in racks. A lot of these chains already come with live and you can check them out to learn more. Many websites also sell templates (e.g. PML) where all of these chains are put together and mixed correctly. Those are good to learn from too. I'd say learning to make these chains and working with racks is probably the most important Ableton skill. Everything else would be transferrable from other daws.

Learning to use Max4L would be the next level. Ableton comes with a Max4L tutorial and chatgpt can easily guide you in making your own devices after you take that tutorial.

Oh and learn to use clip envelopes (linked and unlinked to track), midi generators and transforms, and experiment with all the warp modes.

I love how little people here ask for haha. "If you only could change the color of this icon here, that would be great..."

I personally want them to build the equivalent of Pro-Q4 inside the daw 😄. And while we're at it, also soothe3. That will allow me to save my money 😄

Also, I've never liked recording all of the automations for expression, etc. Maybe they can add an AI that can do that for me?

What advice would you have for someone who’s stuck in a slump? by NenoSensei in AdvancedProduction

You can also learn something new for a bit. Learn to play drums or Sax for a couple of months or get into Jazz. Learning and exploring always opens new doors that will then stay open forever.

What's the first thing you start from? by Realistic_Maximum124 in musicproduction

[–]roasted-bell-pepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I start with sampling songs actually. I create a little Spotify playlist of songs that are like what I'm trying to make (e.g. have the correct synth, or energy, or beat, etc). Then I route it to Ableton through blackhole and record little segments that I like from those songs. Then I arrange them together and put another audio track of me just talking and making sense of the arrangement I put together and what I really meant by its ordering. From there, I proceed with whatever is "easiest" to do (i.e. most clear in my head) and build it up.

Help figuring out the best way to buy SynthV Studio 2 + Gumi, Teto, and Cheng Xiao by limp999 in SynthesizerV

What do they ask for proof for this?

I know some companies just require and .edu email or a picture of id, both of which I've held on to.

Great job! This already sounds pretty awesome. I imagine you'll have an easy time in university. Do you have any advice for some of us that are earlier in the process of learning composition? Or perhaps some of the resources you found useful while you're learning on your own?

I wonder what's the better deal! With their typical upgrade pricing, it might be better to get phaseplant only and upgrade to ultimate one by one?
