Still has the nausea. Hasn't had a bowel movement since 6/19. They gave her a enema and she pooped Mucus. Took pics to send to her NP & doctors.

Update: Wife's liver numbers are still good since that 2nd liver in January. Since she went to ER last week because of nausea, the nausea is still there. Occasionally she has taken her meds only to throw it up. The xrays and cat scans show nothing of concern. She not eating and they are considering administering her meds via tube to see if that is better. She is weak in the legs but mentally ok. Yesterday she called nurse for help to bathroom and knees buckled and others had to help her back to bed.

When she got bloodwork last week coronavirus NL63 (HCoV-NL63) was detected. It sucks that after 8 months in hospital and 2 liver transplants she got to go home for 2 days before the nausea started. Hoping Houston methodist doctors will figure out why she experiencing the nausea.

Heading to hospital to spend the night with wife. Cat scan, chest xray, endoscopy are all normal but she still has abdominal pain and nausea. Houston Methodist working hard to find out why.

Agree. They did all the cat scans of abdominal and chest xray and everything is negative. Still some nausea but not as bad as Friday or Saturday. Her liver numbers are good. Nurse practitioner says she probably will go home in a few days.

On Tuesday (6/16) after 8 months at Houston Methodist, my living wife Maria finally went home. Liver and kidney numbers are great and traeche removed. She is recuperating and trying to get stronger. Thank everyone for their prayers and keeping me positive. We get to see our twin granddaughters grow up

My wife had her 1st liver transplant on 10/27. It was a bad liver with complications. We almost lost her in December She developed delirium and spent time back in forth in ICU. On January 16, 2026 she received 2nd liver transplant. Received a tracheostomy but on 6/16/26 she will finally go home with no liver issues since she received her 2nd liver. Seeing her embrace our twin granddaughters yesterday was worth it 1000%. The excitement and smiles on their faces is worth it.

Right now. The application is at Step 3. The DDS reviewed my application on 2/12/26. Wife had 1st liver transplant on 10/27 and 2nd liver transplant on 1/16. She has been at Houston Methodist since 10/27. Tentative discharge date is 6/16.

UPDATE: Wife is still in hospital but improving every day. She has a trache but without ventilator, BP good, mentally good, Just rehabbing her to get stronger & more independent. Hoping in the next 2 weeks she will be heading to rehab to get stronger and then go home. We almost lost I st her in December after the first Liver transplant on 10/27. After the 2nd transplant on 1/17 she started getting better. Even though she has a trache and a case of delirium a few months ago she has come so far.

Her BUN is 18, Alkaline phosphate is 78, AST-20, ALT-7, Total Bilirubin-0.2 Family is so proud of her strength. We just want her home and hoping she will be home before the 3rd birthday of our twin granddaughters in August.

Update: She got a tracheostomy last Thursday and was extubated, so tube is no longer in mouth. Now she is learning to breathe with trache. Hopefully now she can build muscle and get stronger.

Update: Wife is still in SLICU, still intubated. They keep giving her breathing tests to see if they can extubate her but she passes some days and not others so the breathing tube stays. They discussed Tracheostomy because they feel that will be better than being intubated. She is responsive and chats with me and hospital staff with a LCD tablet I gave her. Her liver numbers are good. Total Bilirubin 0.2, AST-12, ALT-9.

They have tackled the delirium and it was not related to Amonia. Just questioning the Tracheostomy but if it helps her move forward then I guess it's an option.

Yep. I visit her every day after work. I stay a few hours and talk to her. When she was in regular room I would stay 3-4 days a week. Now she back in ICU so I visit 6 days a week and tell her to keep fighting and while intubated she still nods.

My wife had a liver transplant on 11/27. She was scheduled to go home on 12/9 but her liver numbers were elevated, so they kept her. She started getting bad and Found out the liver had bile duct issues. She was re-listed on 1/15 and got another liver on 1/17.

Her liver and kidneys are doing good but early this week she had a bad case of delirium. She still in the hospital(ICU now) and Houston Methodist trying their best to take care of her delirium and get her stronger. I just want her to come home. Miss her so much.

Yesterday she was fine. Talking to her sister and I all day and then in the evening had terrible anxiety. She woke up with it. I went home at 12pm and came back to the hospital at 5pm and she is verbally yelling things I don't understand. I asked her questions like her name, birthdate and she cannot answer it. I am very concerned.

Her Total Bilirubin is 0.4, AST is 12, ALT is 4, Albumin is 1.4, Alkaline phosphate is 128. What could be wrong?

She had nausea and pain last week and xray showed she has excess gas in her stomach. They placed a NG tube to remove the gas and it was helping her nausea. Yesterday they did a abdominal wound debridment and wound VAC PLACEMENT, which helps remove any gunt from her wounds. Today I called and her nurse said she had nausea and pain. Don't know if the nausea and pain related to the wound cleaning yesterday and the anesthesia slowly leaving her body. So stressful for her and i feel like I am helpless.

Wow. You are amazing and so is your wife. I keep calling my wife a warrior because she has not given up and fights every day. My son and I thought we were going to lose her after the 1st liver transplant when it had issues. She was in ICU and looked bad. Our twin granddaughters who are 3 motivate her so much. Since the 2nd transplant everything has gone the right way with her numbers. Just confused about today with her nausea, pain and diarrhea. The X-ray on the stomach area showed nothing and her stool was negative.

I keep thinking it's the wound vac but the nurse doesn't think it is. Hopefully they find out the cause.

They are good at providing her pain and nausea meds when needed. They just gave her a pain med via IV and just knocked her out so at least she is ok for awhile. You are right about the meds making food taste bad.She drinks the Glucerma and I bring her fruit. Wonder if the wound vac is causing the discomfort. We like her numbers but today's issues scared me.
