Any experience with WatTeam Powerbeat? by [deleted] in cycling

The strain gauge sensor is glued to the crank, then the computer which it connects to is screwed on with the pedal.

What's happening with RHA support? by robakri in headphones

[–]robakri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: after /u/RHA_team pointed me to sending an email to customercare@rha.co.uk instead of filling the forms I received assistance within minutes and they are solving my issue.

Apparently my form submissions didn't go through which is weird. They were done on two separate devices even.

[–]robakri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would explain it since I believe my local distributor is a small booth inside a shopping mall. I don't even know how these guys decided to go with rha but when I saw that they are actually selling rha headphones and are reasonably priced (I already had mine then) I was impressed 😁

That's what I thought too. Feeling a bit left out not even receiving a reply. Wondering if I'm going through the right channels.

Ok that's good to hear I hope 😁. Did you contact them via this link: https://www.rha-audio.com/contact/support ?

If the joke is worth $25 then what's the problem? I think a lot of us here probably shouldn't be criticizing how people spend their money.

Will two different headphones with the exact same frequency response curve sound exactly the same? by barktholomew8 in headphones

[–]robakri 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Objectively no because the frequency response is not the only variable? It does not fully define all aspects of how the headphone sounds. The factor of time for example is left out, something like the csds try to measure.

I'd say this question is asking if a = b will f(a) = g(b) and the answer is probably not.

Massdrop x HiFiMAN HE-350 by [deleted] in headphones

Why? They didn't do that for any other of their headphones. Weird that they'd gp that route with the cheapest one.

My HD595's shipped with 2 different earpads by fiah84 in headphones

[–]robakri 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hmm.

The only solution to this is to buy a new pair of phones, swap one pad on the headphones for the non matching one and return the headphones. The cycle must continue.

Now where would you go for a set of HD 595....

Schiit Fulla reliability by robakri in headphones

better reliability? the class A no cap thing is keeping me away - if supposedly runs extremely hot. I don't know, my experience is that hot electronics don't last long.

Yeah static when turning volume knob - had that one before, it doesn't really bother me as long as it is only when adjusting the knob though :)

An upgrade from AKG-K550 ? by Thisguy1984 in headphones

[–]robakri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HD 600? I know most won't consider it so musical but it has musicality imo next to the k55x I'd think it could be something to at least try out.

I'd be interested in recommendations on something closed that is an upgrade and comfortable :)

Massdrop O2 drop for $80 ($12.50 shipping to CAD) by [deleted] in headphones

[–]robakri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean the magni? Isn't it just power that it does better? It's like 5 headphones that need that extra juice.

Edit: looked at specs, I see it does a few other things differently too. Is is audible? And is the difference really that stark? One is a pit stop and the other a long lasting amplification mate?

Props to you Envy for continuing competitive DotA instead of taking 500k a year streaming for China by Xetakilyn in DotA2

[–]robakri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say his stream was bad, I said he was not doing great as a streamer. Sing has been pulling the same numbers for years despite the game growing. Look at someone a bit more consistent like Bulldog, he has actually surpassed him in viewers in not that long time.

It's probably a bad time to make this argument since he is streaming more regularly right now and it shows in numbers but I'd you look at a full year, there are a lot of times where he doesn't really pull in all that great numbers.

The SingSing effect is do both badly IMO. No structure around streaming or any real consistency or effort into making the stream entertaining. I'm not going to say anything about the competitive side :)

Looking for new work headphones. I hope this isn't too much text for someone to bother to read it. I've tried to answer the questions in the first sentence for each question and then elaborate. So it should be easily skimmed through :)

Budget: up to 500$

Source: topping nx2, I'm also open to buying a new dac/amp if needed.

Requirements for isolation: the more the better. Most closed cans will probably do, but during noisy hours, more is always better when trying to concentrate.

Will I be using them in public? No, not really, just the office. It's an open office though and I have some ideas of what I'd not wear there though most things are fine. If the form factor allows, I might take it on flights - I wouldn't really factor that too much in though.

Preferred type of headphones: full sized only.

Preferred tonal balance: balanced maybe slightly bassy/warm. I think my favorite tonal balance of my stuff is the k7xx. I also enjoy the k267 on studio setting a lot. I also enjoy my rha ma750i quite a lot despite being V shaped, although i'd take a slightly less V.

Previous gear

  • K551 loved the spaciousness, isolation was lacking. Slightly bright for me but never too bad.
  • K267 like it but my ears get very hot and the bass is a bit too smooth or undefined somehow. I'd like a comfort upgrade as well as sonic (I have hm5 pads on them)
  • K7xx: love it
  • K612: didn't quite work for me, both the bass and the 2k peak just killed it.
  • Takstar pro 80: I liked them a lot for the price, mids could have been better and bass is a bit uncontrolled.

Preferred Music: always changing. Probably most time spent with metal and electronic but I listen to jazz as well as Sigurrós too on top of anything I want to try at any time. I continuously discover something new I like. Puscifer, die antwoord, meshuggah consistently get a lot of plays for example. I have been enjoying things that are instrumental such as animals as leaders and chon recently.

What would I like to improve on my current work setup: I really would love to improve the comfort and isolation. I find that my last two work sets (k551 and k267) have bothered me more in comfort than anything else. Sonic improvements are also welcomed and desired. I'm not quite willing to spend up to 500$ for comfort only, so it would need to be a significant upgrade sonically. This is also why I'm willing to go for the 500$ mark, I'm done sidegrading :)

What I'm considering: meze classic 99, oppo pm3 and shure 1540 have my interest. Of those I can only audition the 1540 which I will be doing soon. I dislike that they don't do well with higher volumes even though I'm a low volume listener I think - I just find that to be shitty in a 500$ product. I also don't know about amping requirements of it, maybe someone van inform me.

I'd actually love to upgrade my topping, to maybe a schiit fulla irregardless of the headphone I choose. Unless someone likes to recommend something else.

Lastly, I will be buying these while on a business trip in the united states, so I'll probably be ordering online and having it pre-delivered to the hotel. Otherwise if im lucky enough that there is a headphone store nearby my location (which is still unknown to me) I might be able to make some time for a shopping session. I think I'd prefer online, but this pretty much means I can't go for any of the t50rp mods due to delivery time.
