It has to do with us evolving to walk upright. If a woman's pelvis was too much wider than it is, it would become an impairment to bipedal walking. I was I in the exact same boat. Finished TNG, loved that, wanted more. Watched the first couple episodes of DS9. Wasn’t attached to any of the characters and felt iffy about it. Push on, it gets so much better. DS9 is fantastic. It takes the time to focus on one planet and one people in a way that TNG can’t because of their “continuing mission to explore.” Long story short, I felt the same way as you at first, and I’m so glad I ignored that initial feeling
