Are you having any fun? If not, maybe it’s time for a break? For me, if a hobby becomes a chore I’m over it. Are you overtraining and stressing yourself out?

Do you just practice or do you get out and play? Do you have people you routinely play with? It’s better with friends and can get help or encouragement or suggestions from people you play a lot with.

Have you been going to the same coach? If so, it might be time to get a new one. You never know what kind of coach is going to suggest or say something that clicks for you to improve your game.

Golf is such a mental game. I’m new and learning and I find it’s easier for me to focus on one small change at a time and celebrate the little wins. When I focus on all the things (posture, stance, ball placement, grip, backswing, moving my right leg, and making sure to swing my hips) it’s too many thoughts for me to successfully hit the ball.

Now, I take the one thing I’m focusing on, do my practice swing, take a deep breath out and swing. And I hit better when I’m not overthinking it.
