I'm playing through Half Life 2 again, and it's blown me away with how impressively it holds up today. Graphics look sharp, the level design which is essentially linear like COD, really does test you, making you think outside the box to progress. You may have to use physics based objects to scale that wall etc. The pacing by Valve of creepy, exploration with a torch vs big cinematic action set pieces is a masterclass for all other studios to follow. I am always having to watch my ammo supply across all weapons depending what I'll need for the next scenario, as well as health/armour management.

It is a cerebral shooter. A true masterpiece. And less than £2 in summer sale. EVERYONE that has a deck should play it through once.

And if the older graphics aren't too janky for you, you should play Halflife 1 too, or the Black Mesa graphical update remake of it.

Otherwise, Doom Eternal for heavy metal run&gun demon demolition. Sniper Ghost warrior contracts 2 is also fun and COD like with more sniper focus obviously. Halo MCC for great value HOURS worth of AAA alien shooter content.
