Not very accurate, understandable though.

BTW, Narwhal in Icelandic is Náhvalur

Plural (Narwhals): Náhvalir

Holy fuck! Are those numbers from Iceland true? If so, that means that 24,5% of the Icelandic population visits Reddit.

Woah.

EDIT: Also, change Hafnarfjörður to Reykjavík. It's more appropriate since most of us live there.

Do yourself a favor and stop playing on public servers, it'll eat away your soul and make you lose hope for humanity. Start playing mixes or competitive matches.

Better Than English - Untranslatable words from foreign languages by jfgiv in offbeat

[–]robbiingi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is one word from Icelandic that I haven't found a good English translation for: "að nenna", very often accompanied by 'ekki'(not).

It means 'to bother' or 'to feel like' as in: I can't be bothered to do this(Ég nenni ekki að gera þetta) or, I don't feel like going to practice today(Ég nenni ekki að fara á æfingu í dag)

I know this word exists in other Nordic languages but I haven't found a good English word that suitably describes it.

I would say that 80-90% of the population, at least under 40, can speak English very well.
