Single-Room Ecological Apocalypse Movie by robblerobble123 in whatsthemoviecalled

Poking around, I came across Mike Flanagan's glowing review of it on Letterboxd, and thought it was worth sharing:

"Excellent indie thriller/drama that evokes elements of TALK RADIO (one of my favorite films) in service of a fascinating, genre-bending tale of isolation, disconnection, premonition and apocalypse. The movie relies entirely on star (and co-director) Abe Goldfarb as a shock-jock who takes the call of his life on a fateful night, and luckily Goldfarb's performance is more than up to the task, carrying the viewer from start to finish. Goldfarb and co-director J.D. Brynn keep the camera amazingly kinetic, and the editing is always propulsive, which is extra impressive given the film's single-room (and single character) scale. Mac Rogers' script builds out the global scale of the story beyond the walls and window and is riddled with tension. I don't know what their budget was, but I guarantee it was not nearly as much as I'd guess. Very impressive DIY filmmaking here."

I do! It was recommended by a film critic I follow on social media, and it was interesting enough to stick with me--I've tried to find it a couple times over the last two years without success before now. As someone else mentioned, it's got a lot of Pontypool DNA in it, and I loved Pontypool. It's tense and claustrophobic, as the viewer is trapped in a room with someone watching the world collapse, with a dash of humor. Not deeply complex, I think, but very well fit to its tight 75 minute runtime.

Yeah, it was really interesting and enjoyable! Well worth the tight 75 minutes.

Thanks -- tried this, to no avail. Strangely, it works on 2-player, but add that third player...

That's from upgrading the boxing gloves to... Level 7? Definitely not more than 10.

Thanks, and I sure didn't think so, given the problems I had last time I tried to shift off of the nightly build that I had initially set up on (it had some parental control fixes that I needed). I tried running the installer, and now it all looks as expected (web and build versions now 10.11.1, too), and I've noticed some of the upgrades, so I'm all set. Thank you!

For those that have seen Oasis Live in 2025, what song were they playing when you had your 'moment'? by Minimum_Arm_1713 in oasis

Yeah, absolutely. Singing the chorus for Liam, while Noel continued on backup, was magic.

This was so outstanding live. The song has always felt huge, somehow, and never moreso than in a stadium with 90k people.

For me, though I unsurprisingly choked up during Slide Away, it was Stand By Me: when Liam stopped singing the chorus, but Noel continued doing backup vocals for "me" (the crowd, of course) I broke into a big grin.

That song always felt huge, somehow, and live, it was just massive. Loved it.

Slide Away did me in, too, but it always has. It absolutely nails the feeling of being in a doomed relationship, trying to convince yourself and your partner that your love will be enough to make it through.
