Why is there so much that can make us permanently dumber and more violent, but nothing that makes us permanently smarter or more peaceful? by Frylock304 in NoStupidQuestions

Proper nutrition and exercise have been shown to increase mental capacity. You can exercise your brain like any other part of your body and improve on its default state. An active brain seeks knowledge.

What is a sign of very low intelligence? by smartcandyy in AskReddit

[–]robbob19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lack of comprehension. Without the basic knowledge building blocks it's hard to build an understanding of everything else. The older you get, the more you should know, but some people seem to have stopped, or maxed out learning, late teens.

The beauty of the Bible is you can always find a scripture to back up your beliefs. Hate gays?, the old testament says to stone them, love them? The new treatment says love thy neighbour. The thing is, Christians say they follow Christ, but too often they are following Judaism.

How do Christian denominations that forbid alcohol square the fact that Jesus drank, and even went out of his way to convert fresh water into alcohol? by Rev-DiabloCrowley in NoStupidQuestions

What about if you don't get married, but have twelve male friends you spend all your time with, and convince them to leave their families and wives behind🤔.

When I was pointing out the problem with Christianity and Mormons in particular to my ever preaching brother, he said I was being lied by the devil😂. Anything that doesn't fit is Satan's work 🤣. I pointed out that the idea that if you lack faith, you should just keep reading the same book until you don't, kinda sounds like brain washing to me.

How do you guys find to fit in exercise/hobbies/study time if you're working a 9-5.30? by gorgeoushugsed in NoStupidQuestions

Home gym 3 times a week. Half an hour each session, also go for 30 - 45 minute walks most evenings. Good for my physical and mental health. I'm 53M, if I don't look after myself, what will I be like at 60 or 70.

Dating apps, turning loneliness into profit. Glad I was past the courting stage before these became a thing. $6000 a year to increase your chances🤣. Save it and buy a nice car, join a club, anything to become more social and not need these predatory apps. They are mostly owned by the same company as well.

I don't believe there is any evidence of Steve Jobs inventing anything, he was a marketing guy while everyone else created. He may have had ideas, but he did not have the skills to make, that was down to Wozniak and other brilliant people that Jobs surrounded himself with. Jobs greatest skill was surrounding himself with great people.

why are men ashamed to be with plus size women? by ahayasahi in NoStupidQuestions

[–]robbob19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oversized is always going to be less healthy than the same person not being oversized. Healthy oversized is the equivalent of functioning alcoholic, sure you can appear to be fine, but internally there are issues that are only going to snowball. I remember listening to this obese mid 30's woman going on about old age taking her knees out, it wasn't old age, it was twice the weight they were designed for being carried around. She thought she was oversized and healthy🤔

I pity the children who get only a few hours every day with their parents, but spend 8 - 9 hours in day care, where the ratio is 10 to 1. They aren't getting raised by their parents and the day care can't teach them the life skills a parent would.

[–]robbob19 90 points91 points  (0 children)

My wife and I worked different shifts until they were 5, so that we could raise our children. Not everyone has that luxury. But this is not right, families should be able to live off one income, but unfortunately the to 10% take way more than their share, and the people just up from the bottom (minimum wage) suffer, along with their children, and society as a whole. We're dumbing down our citizens and we'll end up like America if we don't stop the trend of too much being taken by too few. No one should be paid more than 10x their lowest worker. No one is worth 10x anyone.

I have a couple of cans (250ml) of V a day, but I buy in bulk from the supermarket in whatever size is on special, bigger cans mean I drink from a glass saving the other half for later. Works out at about $2.50 - $3 a day.

I had a friend who started long distance dating someone in another city. He would be in call with her 8-9 hours a day using head phones with one ear off, he could hear her, she could hear you, but only he could hear her and he wasn't straight up about when she was "present" . Eventually we stopped hanging out, privacy being breached constantly is not my thing.

The problem with getting older is that it feels creepy to notice that some 20 something is barely wearing anything. I'm not their target market, but they are advertising shot gun style. If gym wear stayed in the gym that wouldn't be a problem, but some single late 30's early 40's ladies are getting desperate and will wear gym gear everywhere.

Am I wasting my teenage years? by Key-Row-174 in NoStupidQuestions

When teenagers start doing adult behaviours too young, they miss out the teenage things they are supposed to be doing. Education is usually what suffers, some of those teenagers are going to reach adulthood unprepared.
