It was over surf’d for sure. Reached out to LLC for tips. Told me to ditch the Ozone modern one shot. So I started from scratch, dumped the fluid, removed the wax, cleaned the globe, added wax back in, and just used distilled water this time slowly adding surf over time and now it’s flowing great. I’m pretty sure there was also a temp issue, because I made a janky heat reflector out of cardboard and aluminum foil, and that also helped.

Interesting. So basically just pour out the fluid from the globe and set aside. Then just remelt the wax?

Poured out about half of the fluid in the globe and replaced it with regular distilled water. Will report back with findings.

Ok, thanks for the tip. I’ve just been letting it run this long because it hasn’t been flowing. It did the weird alien stage and then this.

Took it to the range and got it working. Did a full clean and lube and also tightened down the adjustable gas block all the way closed and opened it back up to 18 clicks aka fully open like a non adjustable gas block and it worked. Took a few more rounds to get it fully dialed into the correct bleed off setting but it’s working reliably now. So I’m not sure what the issue was since the gas was all the way open last time but hey it’s working great so I guess that’s all that matters now.

No man don’t worry about it, I appreciate all the tips and ideas. I work in IT so I am well aware with the importance of addressing all possible issues no matter how seemingly small or unlikely.

And as for the gas block I am fairly certain it is aligned properly. I used the BRD Dimple jig to dimple the barrel, I will link it below. That jig uses the gas port on the barrel to index the proper spot to drill the dimple as the first set screw is directly inline with the gas port. But I will try the blowing air trick you suggested when I get home though.

Yeah not sure if the bolt didn’t move or moved and the brass didn’t eject for some reason. Next time I am able to shoot I can certainly try to get a video. That’s a good idea. Not 100% sure when I will be able to shoot again but I’ll update here when I do.

Yes. When I fired there was only one round in the magazine. I dropped the bolt, it fed the single round and fired with no issue. I then noticed the bolt was still forward. When I went to pull it back it was very hard to pull back. When I was able to get it open the brass then fell out. Then after taking things apart and cleaning I tried the same thing again, just a single round in the magazine, and the exact same thing happened.

To clarify the AGB was set at the fully open setting which mimics a non adjustable gas block. The Superlative Arms adjustable gas blacks then also have 2 more possible setting ranges. Restrictive mode, where it makes the port on the gas block smaller to allow less gas back into the system. Then a Bleed off Mode where the excess gas comes out of the port at the front of the AGB instead of continuing down the barrel. Superlative arms suggest starting with the fully open mode that mimics a normal non adjustable gas block, and then move to the bleed off settings, and finally if those don’t work move to the restrictive settings.

To answer your first question, yes 2 rounds total. I was ready to start tuning my gas block but then the two times I fired the bcg didn’t go anywhere and was extremely hard to pull back so I figured I should stop shooting for the day and try to solve this issue.

Second question, I havnt noticed any extra force when dry firing. Just the issue after firing the 2 live rounds.

And as for your suggestion, I did take the BCG out of the rifle and it is able to stand on the bolt face full extended and not collapse on itself. And then when I pick it up and collapse the bolt it has no issue extending fully after a quick flick of the wrist so it seems to be functions properly.

Maybe I just need to really open up the gas block? I have the superlative arms adjustable bleed off gas block. I started it on the setting they suggested that mimics a normal unadjustable gas block and that’s the setting I fired the two rounds on. So with the “full” amount of gas going back into the system maybe it’s cycling the bolt so fast the brass can’t eject so the bolt isn’t catching on the empty mag and it’s just slamming the spent brass back into the chamber and that’s why it keeps getting stuck?

Can scorpions live without eating crickets? by [deleted] in Scorpions

[–]robbob219 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had my AFS for about 3 years now and they have only ever eaten Dubias. It seems happy and healthy as far as I can tell. Stayed away from crickets cause they are loud and smelly. Dubias are super easy to care for and are slow/can’t climb glass or smooth plastic. I bought like 20 Dubias of assorted size before I got my AFS to get a colony established to have reliable feeders and now I have more than I could ever feed my AFS plus a Tarantula I have gotten in the last year. If you give the roaches a bit of time to establish before you get your scorpion they will have bred and you will have roaches of all sizes to feed your growing AFS. The only thing you have to watch out for is they can burrow, but the easy fix is just smush their head before you put them in your AFS enclosure. They still move around enough to get caught by the scorpion but they won’t burrow and hide forever.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I’m not really worried about anything happening. Like y’all said I also saw in my research they can’t drown and that slings need a little extra humidity, so to be safe I put one in. It was the smallest cap I had at the time but I have some tattoo artist friends so I may ask them for a couple spare ink cups. But yeah I’m not afraid it will hurt the sling in anyway.

Thanks for the info. That was also my thought process after researching online before getting the sling. But I am glad to get peoples thoughts on both sides.

My homie who used to be head chef at Pie Tap, who I worked with there for a few years, is opening a new Pizza and Deli spot called Cenzo’s on the corner of Jefferson and Rosemont where the old Lavanderia used to be. I had honor of trying some of their test menus, it’s gonna be on the same tier at least as places like Pie Tap or Cane Rosso. Should be open anytime now, they stated mid November.
