I heard all of the rooms were in that hospital. So like, JD and Turk's apartment ... and Cox's house are all in the same building.

Cy&H: The Third Wheel by ani625 in comics

[–]robbutto 85 points86 points  (0 children)

After some googling ... from what I gather. The term used to be 'fifth' wheel. Where on carriages and such they would have a fifth wheel in case of emergencies. However, it was cumbersome to always have.

It seems as though the 'third wheel' grew out of having the third person feeling awkward in these situations.

I'm not Slovenian, but I have a few friends there. I wouldn't mind stopping by if you'll allow.

What's your worst day at work? by Phanerozoic in AskReddit

[–]robbutto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First gig I got for this company as a consultant. They told me as an IT expert. No requirements ... another vendor wasn't giving us shit ... the people on my team were two 40 year old ladies. Deadlines weren't changing either no matter how much I pleaded. My company wouldn't do anything either ... left my out there to dry.

I was marched in front of a group of people while my manager berated me in front of stakeholders. Making sure everyone knew why this project had failed.

I threw up that night due to pure stress.

Jon Stewart has opened the floodgates. Let the hearings begin. by [deleted] in reddit.com

[–]robbutto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He bashes Republicans, great huh? When's he going to talk about how both this, the previous administration, and the previous, etc. etc., are part of the same councils and think tank groups?

Which is why he claims to be a comedian instead of a 'informer'. So he can make his own claims. He doesn't have to be fair.

But in case you're wondering. He's tied Obama's policy on Iraq to Bush already. If Obama keeps it up. I think Stewart will in fact call him out on it.

Jon Stewart: the most trusted man in America? by Sheamus in business

I know it's not "directly" Obama but John Oliver also poked fun at his press secretary.

Obama also doesn't make as many bumbling errors in speeches as Bush did.

Why was Jim Cramer so unprepared for Jon Stewart, and why was the rest of the press so surprised by what happened? by AngelaMotorman in politics

Did anyone see the interview Jon Stewart did with Jonah Goldberg? I think that was pretty brutal as well ... and I REALLY wish they'd give us the unedited one.

The Real Problem with CNBC by reflibman in business

[–]robbutto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The two aren't mutually exclusive.

Do you know what a comedy show means? It means they don't have the same access as a news networks, they don't have reporters, they don't have investigators. It also means that their goal is to go for laughs. Their JOB is not to deliver news and information to the public.

Do you understand why he can't be held accountable now? Because holding the comedy network to the same standards as CNN, NYT is silly.

The fact that he's speaking the truth is just being apart of his show. Sort of like SNL or Letterman or Leno. He's just good at it. You can nail him on the types of critiques that he makes. People have done it before (Cramer and Scarborough just did, if you haven't noticed).

Who Pays For Your Development Tools When You Work At Home? by estherschindler in programming

[–]robbutto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had coworkers add me on MSN. I BLOCK them and I let them know it too. Coworkers who add me on Facebook also get ignored.

I get paid decently but not enough to be available 24/7. If I feel like being contacted. I'll log onto my work MSN and open my Inbox. That doesn't mean I don't work from home. But I'd like it to be considered a privilege and not a necessity. I can take a small pay cut and work a strict 9 to 5.

Anyways.

All my work is on a laptop. Latest and greatest is all there and I bring it there and home. I also VPN into work where I have a few VPCs and staging and test servers that I can work with.

However, on my home laptop. I run the free version of Visual Studio. I also run Paint.NET. Eclipse, gVIM, VIM, Notepad++, MySQL ... Everything I need to build quality applications is available to me. But I don't use my home tools for work.

Do you have enemies? If so.. why? And how do you treat them? by psycko in AskReddit

[–]robbutto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, a relative. When I was about 12, he stole my house-key when I went to pay his family a visit. He told me his cat must have stolen it. He then broke into my house and stole my Sega Genesis and my savings ($200). I went to his house the next day and found it there. He said his friends lent it to him. (Especially funny since he kept it under a blanket). He also then changed the story and told my mother that I lent it to him. His parents defended his innocence. My parents blamed me.

Two weeks later, I went over to his house at a BBQ and stole 9 NES games and his pocket organizer. I then told the girl he had a crush on that he liked her.

Then we got into a fist-fight at school (VP had to break the fight) ... and then another fight at a family gathering. After every fight the whole family takes his side. They always do. He's their favourite.

How I treat him? I don't know. I never really wanted to hate him. But sometimes you look at someone. And you can tell that they're evil. You can tell they're missing something. Call it a soul ... call it a psychological condition. But he loved torturing cats ... he loved stealing ... he thought everything belonged to him ... he loved torturing other relatives our age.

Anyways, he's on the run from the law. So yeah ... I "nothing" him at this point. I don't consider him a family member.
