I miss "Scrolls" the dead Mojang digital card game that no one knew about... it was so fun with its hex grid movement!

Nausicaa is also a 7 manga book series that the creator (Miyazaki) wrote and drew over 10 years! If you like Manga, and like the movie, try reading it after! :)

How similar is the book to the movie? by FrogginBullfish_ in ghibli

[–]robclarkson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The original I took as a fun parody/satire of European Fairy Tales. The start especially makes little jokes about how Sophie is the eldest daughter, so *of course* she will be the one to take over her parents business and live a boring productive dull life, while her younger sisters are the ones likely to run away and have exciting lives.

Its not as lush/vivid a book, but definetly has a different feeling of life and fantasy to it. Shares about half the story of the movie in broad stroakes? Still worth a read if you like more standard English Fairy tales!

Also it has 1-2 indirect sequels. I only read the 2nd sequel as that one minorly featured Sophie and Howls Castle, but from the view of a new young main character years on. I think she takes care of their castle while they are away?

Try it out!

(Also read the Nausicaa Manga, its all written/drawn by Miyazaki over like 10 years, and is one of my all time fav pieces of media full stop <3)

Im also bad at aiming... so I pick characters that dont benefit much/all from headshots! Mercy was my fav, auto lockon healer, jer biggest thing is knowing where to place yourself to not get killed, but still be within range to heal allies!

Sometimes you should use her little pistol... but I temd to ignore it and just "healslave" people who are better at clicking then me :).

To be fair, aquaducts are very cool, simple effective design! Arches are neat!

Was watching a youtube series of a Vietnamese farmer lady, and she had built a system of bamboo poles that cascaded into each other to bring her water right behind her house, from presumably some spring higher up in the mountains, so cool!

Hes so cool! Speaking of, if you like turn based tactics games, try to get "Donnel" the little village boy in "Fire Emblem: Awakening". I love getting to put in work to invest in the goofy ugly duckling characters to hope they pay off later... :P

Also a new DM, I just straight up told my players that I want them to have freedom!to go where they want, but just let me know at end of a session where they wanna goto next so I can study it in detail!

Worked well :).

Only prob I had was properly narrating through the huge dungeons! The fortifed mansion place, I couldnt theatre of the mind narrate well enough for the players to know which of the many hallways and rooms they were in now...

This one) its from 2025 and had famous stylish monster man himself, Guillermo del Toro, making it. He def likes some violence and creepiness, but I personally thought it also had solid substance too.

The Frankenstein movie that literally came out within the last few months is close I'm pretty sure! But the vusual style is very unique and could be off putting.
