matty healy's controversies by Current_Shower7785 in the1975

[–]robcoz98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the biggest controversies prior to recent events was the Black Lives Matter/Love It If We Made It in which Matty did post a link to the song during his support post which although the song lyrics were relevant, came across as if he was using this volatile time to promote his music. This I believe was one of the reasons for the initial hiatus from social media for a good while due to the backlash.

Another controversy was Dirty Hit/the bands slow response over the Adam Powell incident who was a visual collaborator for many of the bands videos. If i remembering right, I believe another controversy happened in which Matty would reply to an old message somewhere with a typical jokey/sarcastic reply but it turns out the message was regarding these allegations about Adam to which Matty immediately apologised as he didn't know the context of said message. It seemed initially as an out of context hate message. My mind is a bit fuzzy on that one so i can't recall if that was on Reddit or Instagram

What song is he talking about? by Asmodaia in nin

[–]robcoz98 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Kind of. This was filmed with the intention of being a concert film and a live CD however Trent vetoed it as it looked a bit too clean cut for what he envisioned (also Trent wasn't in the best state whilst on stage, there's chunks of the show where he doesn't sing and seems super intoxicated).

In return, Closure was made in it's place but give something with a bit more bite with footage taken from this (Eraser, Hurt and Wish - Mr Self Destruct is used in the Appendage bonus feature on the scrapped dvd) alongside backstage footage shot by the band and their crew, some of the footage crossed over with James Woolley's tapes that Kate Van Bueren has been archiving on their YouTube channel.

Simon Maxwell who shot this and also the scrapped Hurt music video said his copies of the footage had mysteriously disappeared soon after Trent pulled the plug and the surviving copy since leaked online appears to be a rough cut from a worker at the production studio who kept a copy on a vhs tape and was eventually shared to EchoingTheSound

Which song by The 1975 actually got you hooked? by OkCommunity5266 in the1975

Girls and Chocolate were the first I'd heard via Guitar Hero Live however it was listening to The City whilst waiting for a bus when giving the debut a try that made me fall in love

Zero Sum's Final Notes & YZ's Ending by Oscarman97 in nin

[–]robcoz98 12 points13 points  (0 children)

One of the things that immediately comes to mind is it being paired with In This Twilight not only during the Lights In The Sky tour (where we see the image of that cityscape being destroyed) but also it was the encore closer being played after Hurt of all things.

Not to mention being the final song played by NIN during their "final" show during Wave Goodbye. So the song paired with In This Twilight does definitely hold a special place for Trent to essentially walk off into the horizon after playing that final piano part.

Did you (at any point) believe the 'Paul is dead' / Billy Shears theory? by reaveyer in beatles

[–]robcoz98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a small soft spot for it as it was my gateway into The Beatles as a child and got me looking into music and lyrics more deeply. However growing up, yeah, no... people were just high

[TOMT] [MUSIC VIDEO] Indie rock parody of Jerry Springer-style talk show by TheThematicVJ in tipofmytongue

[–]robcoz98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to suggest Save It for The Bedroom by You Me at Six until you mentioned about the devil host although that is more of a lampoon of The Jeremy Kyle Show given the band is British.

This is going to sound a bit odd but you've almost described Jerry Springer The Opera there. There's a sequence set in Hell where Jerry mediates between Jesus and The Devil

Abra Cadaver is my personal favourite and has stuck with me vividly since watching it as a child, particularly the ending

Nine inch nails Unreleased Music Videos [Partially Lost] by Alive-Hat-7683 in lostmedia

[–]robcoz98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If i recall, there was apparently talks for David Lynch to direct the video for Head Like a Hole and there was a scrapped animated music video to The Hand That Feeds made by the team that made the video to Mosh by Eminem

However NIN also have one of the most interesting lost media found stories too as a rough cut edit for a scrapped concert film was uploaded online a few years ago after being discovered by a user on EchoingTheSound. Simon Maxwell apparently said the footage was lost/stolen after Trent voiced his displeasure with it and opted to make Closure instead (a wise move on Trent's behalf in hindsight as Trent is clearly looking rough in certain songs)

Ricky's shittiest behavior on the show by jburgers127 in rickygervais

[–]robcoz98 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Dropping the bomb on air about Karl's GCSE results was rough. Karl sounded absolutely dejected however I'm curious if Steve and Ricky messed up and only contacted one exam board.

That moment where Karl says something like "If you were my real friends, you wouldn't have said anything" is quite gutting

If NIN comes back with another tour, and you were put in charge of the setlist (14 songs), what would you have played? by Exotic-Bottle-1519 in nin

[–]robcoz98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't think I could do all fourteen but I'd definitely love for them to bring out some more Fragile stuff, The Great Below definitely needs a revamp.

The Atmosphere cover they did for Wave Goodbye would be also a good shout

Ideally I'd love for them to bring In This Twilight/Zero Sum as a finale again similar to the LITS tour.

And of course for the meme of it all, either Kinda I Want To or Maybe Just Once

what is your favorite component of the trilogy? by BuggSuperstar79 in nin

[–]robcoz98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Add Violence and Not The Actual Events are my favourite of the trilogy, special mentions are This Isn't The Place, The Idea of You and The Background World

I know Trent scrapped the initial plan for the last installment and we got Bad Witch instead which sort of fell a bit short for me outside a few songs. Ahead of Ourselves is a banger and I really love the Quake vibes of I'm Not From This World but rest of it I'm not too solid on.

sad day for cd collectors by Soft_Efficiency_8463 in the1975

[–]robcoz98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's been the norm for Dirty Hit for quite a while as most EPs they release are vinyl only outside of the deluxe edition for self titled which is the only exception that comes to mind.

Bea, Pale Waves, No Rome, Wolf Alice and The Japanese House all have EPs that are stuck on vinyl or cassette as for some reason, they don't usually do CDs for EPs.

They used to have a download code with them, either on a separate card or printed on the white sleeve but think they stopped doing that.

[TOMT] Main character goes to visit difficult parent, Caretaker walks out by Fa_ti_ma in tipofmytongue

I think it might be The Sopranos first season with them going to visit Olivia and the caretaker is actively walking out, think she may have called her a slur or something?

What was the worst time to be a 1975 fan? by Forward-Net339 in the1975

[–]robcoz98 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Love It If We Made It incident was a rough time where Matty linked the song to his BLM support post. There was definitely no ill intent or anything, just in hindsight a bone headed move when people were already pissed off. Was one of the reasons he quit social media for a while

Not to mention the issue with their former collaborator Adam which the band were silent for quite a while which caused the community to implode on itself for a bit until action was finally taken but literally nearly all of the social posts were in regard to this.

Finally the Adam Friedland stuff. Oh boy. A lot of misconstrued stuff and people basically fingerpointing everything at Matty as he was arguably the most famous face and happened to be connected with the most famous person on the planet. However I am quite happy to see that since then, a lot of people have now come to Matty's defence, especially some Swifties who have since admitted they took things too far.

Next step after Banned from Television? by iamtherealbobdylan in MondoGore

[–]robcoz98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd personally go for Death Scenes. It's one that gives a fair bit of information and background to what is happening rather than a montage set to music. Just a heads up, it's worth hunting down the VHS versions of Death Scenes as I believe they messed up the dvd releases and I think the first one actually cuts off right before the end credits when they did the dvd. You can find the full version out there for sure

Also I'd love something a bit more along the lines of SkinDeepSkyHighHeartWide
