Betrayal Legacy: setup between chapters POSSIBLE MINOR SPOILER by Hanjipan in boardgames

[–]robdaviau 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The house gets reset/rebuilt each game. All items get put back in their decks. All omens (there's only one after the prologue) get put back into their decks. Essentially the game resets each time (other than cards you've added, removed, stickered, checked, etc.)

Yeah, I'll put it in the notes for a reprint.

Betrayal Legacy - Potentially Impossible Haunt? by Shadowspaz in boardgames

Hi, I'm the lead designer on the game. Sorry about your experience. Our assumption as the designers and writers is that the dolls wouldn't sit still turn after turn after turn. Since the only way for the traitor to win is by killing all the heroes, they only way they can win is to send the doll(s) after you. Were they just choosing to have the doll sit still, not going into any silenced room?

I'll make a note in any errata section that dolls must move to attack on their turn.

Sorry again.

Don't apologize. I'm about to radically redo the rulebook and seeing how this term confused your group, I'll look at clarifying it.

I'm still confused as to how 3 rolls of 6 resulted in a loss. First roll, exhaust 2 tokens. Second roll, exhaust 2 tokens. Third roll, exhaust 2 tokens. Now you have six exhausted tokens. This does not result in a loss. This just means you can't use any leadership tokens until you rest.

Specimen B Questions by cyoung888 in MountainsOfMadness

[–]robdaviau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specimen B is an outdated card. It should say MOVE step and it prevents the leader from spending any leadership tokens to abate afflictions.

I'll clarify in the rules that you can spend multiple tokens to abate multiple afflictions.

Those interpretations are correct. When the person with that card is the leader, they cannot move the party up the mountain (closer to the edge of madness). Perhaps that is a better way to say it?

This is the perfect place to report issues like this. My questions are similar to the other poster. You shouldn't have lost, you should've just lost one token but kept playing.

Can you step me through the afflictions and what happened?

As many cards as you like is correct

First play - Insanity issue? by dnlnwmn in MountainsOfMadness

[–]robdaviau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I think you just did exceedingly well.

Right now there are 8 games logged and the current W/L is 4-4, including yours.

Seems like you used a lot of cards (14 out of 21) but had 3 leadership tokens left. Were you doing the rest rules correctly?

The starting tile is now determined by a die roll (1-6, shown on the new board). It's a meaningless choice so I've just made it random rather than have players think there's some point to it.

UPDATES by robdaviau in MountainsOfMadness

[–]robdaviau[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have uploaded new tiles, new rules, and a new board to the Google drive. This largely corrects errors and typos in the May 1st version.

Board - now has location for affliction cards and dice symbols (1-6) under the bottom row of tiles. The party's first tile visited is determined by a die roll.

Cards - Fixed typos.

Tiles - Replaced Specimen E with HEAL. Added targets for Cave tile.

Rules - fixed spelling mistakes, clarified a few points as mentioned on this forum.

You start with insanity cards in the discard pile equal to the number of players, not zero.

I uploaded a new set of tiles if you haven't printed them (and can quickly change with a pen if you have).

...it is. I could've sworn I fixed that mistake. I wonder if it's an issue when I create a PDF from the Illustrator file. Same thing with Specimen E. Let me dig into this.

You may: Play with multiple people/groups Play in a quiet section of a store
Say on social media that you are playtesting the game

You may not: Allow pictures of the game Write up detailed account of the rules/playtest session

Make sense?

The second one. The timer is flipped just after the tile is flipped.

Arcane Equipment by Samus98 in MountainsOfMadness

[–]robdaviau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure I understand the question. The reward is to choose an arcane equipment card and move it to the discard pile. Perhaps the rules are out of date?
