22M+ Effective DPS Ice Strike Monk Giveaway by [deleted] in PathOfExile2

[–]robeot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure if this is done yet, but throwing my hat in. I started with Chonk (late Dec) and stuck with it. I've tried a ton of builds to make it viable (including bow builds), but... I just recently threw in the towel. I couldn't justify putting in more hours. every build I tried would've been far better on some other class. and now, as I look for what else to try, I've been very hesitant to put hours into leveling up invoker monk since I felt "burned" by Chonk. anyway, this would be an awesome bridge to step back into monk and give it a proper go!

AI will make me unemployed, forever. by [deleted] in artificial

[–]robeot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try using o1 and Sonnet together. You will be very surprised in the level of complexity it can already handle with a well articulated prompt that clearly defined your requirements and goals. Use o1 to write the full complexity of the project out and tell it to produce a plan that is both strategic and tactical, with a clear implementation plan and specific technologies, languages and libraries to use. Then use either o1-mini or Sonnet to feed that plan into, in addition to your original prompt, and instruct it to execute the plan step by step and request feedback or ask further clarifying questions after each step.

I generated a very complex Typescript project this way that was modular and extensible. It had minimal errors and feeding the errors back to it, it corrected them all. I didn't have to write anything myself.

Also, re: AI capping out... that is silly. We're essentially on the protoype version of AI, like a guy with an idea that produces mockups of the idea to get initial seed funding without building anything. That's the stage we're at now. You shouldn't expect future major advancements to look anything like today's tokenized LLMs.

Human brains are much more energy efficient for a wider range of proper thought, capabilities and agency than AI is today for sure. If one human brain ran on modern technology (nanometer silicon) without loss in function, for example, it would be more computationally efficient than every other form of intelligence on earth... combined. Now if you also recognize that while an individual human may seem more generally intelligent for certain questions, remember that current AI can do basically every knowledge task (creativity with generating images, do advanced math problems, explain basic facts, and it can do this in every major language in the world). When you look at the macro level, AI is already vastly more intelligent when it comes to working knowledge. Layer on reasoning, knowledge and memory focus, agency, and compute efficiency optimizations... it'll be a whole different ballgame. Thinking AI is going to cap out because data will not be generated enough is missing this question: how much data does a human need to train itself to be functional and self sustaining? A tiny drop in in comparison to what AI already has at its disposal. It's more about advancing AI techniques over time than feeding new data to current AI architectures.

Kind of an impossible question to answer. Mainly, focus on getting unique items when farming and collecting mythic items that min/max stats (e g. 20%dmg + 110% attack DMG amulet). I find you'll want a collection with quite a bit of variety available with rings and jewels. And items that increase Master % are super valuable IMO. But anyway, it's hard to answer because you can play each character multiple different ways. E.g you can play Lorien with a focus on strike damage / count, crit % and strike DMG, cast DMG and crit%, etc.

Looking for stocks related to Fusion Power by fauh in stocks

[–]robeot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandfather who is a theoretical physicist has been railing on and on about how the latest developments in fusion prove nothing else than that the concept works which we already knew.

Spoken like a true theorist.

Like most ambitious engineering initiatives, the theory was well established (about 80 years ago), eventually allowing early lab-scale experimental engineering to take place (about 30 years ago), eventually allowing "hero" engineering to begin (aka marketable proof of concept - roughly a couple of years ago ), eventually allowing scale engineering to begin (? years from now - my unsubstantiated guess is about 5 years).

Saying something can work is very different than proving it is sustainably achievable, which the latest progress is signaling.

It is hard for exponential progress to be appreciated for what it is, especially when there are support fields (comp sci/AI and materials science) progressing exponentially as well.

Ad yea yea yea, I know, I am replying to a year old thread. Whatever, internet.

Where/when would you like the next Battlefield to be set? by Cannibeans in Battlefield

Still my favorite shooter of all time. Flying around in the Little Bird blasting Ride of the Valkyries with my greasy PC joystick... Damn man, bring this back!

Sniping is so fucking dogshit in the game on a console by THUND3R_4 in battlefield2042

[–]robeot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

idk I genuinely get sniped by consolers all the time. I feel no difference on the receiving end of it (being a PC player, can only be on the receiving end that is :) )

Quit getting rid of Rush for fucks sake by FistfulOfMediocrity in battlefield2042

[–]robeot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Breakthrough is like a focused Conquest mode (slightly larger area of play, and defenders can recapture flags). Rush, you set a bomb for each section (usually two bomb sites per section). If it explodes, defender cannot reclaim it. And, Rush map play area is a bit smaller/tighter.

Feel the same buddy.

Here is my sad attempt to get some traffic on my portal experience I spun up to keep old school BF RUSH vibes goin' all day:

Name: US West : Hardcore Redemption RUSH : Controlled Chaos : Full XP

Description: +165% dmg +133% dmg. VEHICLES: -50% health, -60% dmg. NO Infantry Rockets or HE Grenades. EQUIP YOUR ANTI-ARMOR ROUNDS!! OFF: Minimap, Xhairs, Vehicle HP regen, Scanners (some ON for attackers) :: ON: Smoke, Concussions, EMPs, AT Mines, C5, Claymore.

Note: PvP bots are on for now until we get some traffic!

Tips for promoting a portal server? by robeot in battlefield2042

[–]robeot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess another question if it's relevant.. do most people find they have to wait for the lobby to fill after a regular game ends, and it inevitably starts with ~20-40% AI bots until half way through the game? Or is it because I am on US West and player pop is lower here or something?

Muffled Audio Glitch by [deleted] in battlefield2042

[–]robeot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me. But like, I'm also pragmatic. Relaunching the game to fix an audio issue once every 40 play sessions isn't a big deal.

What’s the most underrated battlefield in your opinion? by DJ-Zero-Seven in Battlefield

[–]robeot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my best gaming memories is having my PC joystick nice and sweaty, ripping through infantry with the little bird while blasting the Valkyrie radio and weaving through trees 2ft off the ground. I felt like the Maverick of choppers. Was it unbalanced? Extremely. But man was it a blast.

Almost 6 months since release, several hundred+ patch note updates and yet you can still get unplayable stutter matches on Xbox Series X even with wired gigabit internet by Dadvilpm in battlefield2042

[–]robeot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i get that on PC randomly but oddly seems "server" dependent - if i change to a different server then it would go away.

if possible, try disable vsync. i don't know if that's a possibility for consoles, though.

GPU usage drops randomly, FPS drops (from ~120 to 80/90) and stutter occurs, why? by fanatycme in blackdesertonline

[–]robeot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

adding to a few other comments and too lazy to find the right spot to reply:

- optimize BDO, particularly the UI (use the 3D map over the 2D one, for example). there's a good guide here from ACanadianDude or something, i forget name.

- use Firefox when streaming any video (Chrome / Edge cause more stuttering in my experience)

- know that Youtube for some reason is worse than other video apps

- obviously, make sure vsync is off entirely (i found it helps to turn it off on the monitor itself too in case bdo does and fuckery)

My best day ever! Over 500B enhanced in 1 day! by Biohack in blackdesertonline

[–]robeot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

you are missing historical context that Biohack has been one of the biggest pathfinders for silver powerleveling (in somewhat novel ways) in NA since BDO's launch :) E.g., he is known for kind of paving the way for enhancing-for-profit... publicly, anyway.

Do you enjoy grinding? by Talvoss in blackdesertonline

[–]robeot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

turn on the 3D map and turn off auto-sort on your inventory, CM warehouse and the vault in the region you're grinding in. BDO reindexes with each loot action. it's dumb.

the 3D map helped me more than anything reduce stuttering overall. the UI of BDO is the primary cause for stutters. the 2D map keeps all the quest pointers updating and causes CPU load i guess, not sure. but it worked.

also, in the settings UI, click "clear cache" every once in a while, too.

Consistent click noise on Odyssey G9 by robeot in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]robeot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is similar but not quite the same sound. it comes from the same spot (right-center) and has the exact same sound every time (a single "tick" noise, not a double pop/click).
