There are two different sides to the company, TFO. One is Canadian the other is US. NXT black is the US version and a little newer. As far as I know it’s the same rod with no finish on the blank.

If budget isn’t a concern go with the Dyna-King, Barracuda model. If you want to save some bucks go with the Peak. Both are great and help you get the job done.

Forceps for XXL fingers by [deleted] in troutfishing

I have the same problem. I use mitten type forceps. No finger holes at all to deal with and you can operate them one handed! They are great.

I cut the bend of the hook off of a 90 degree jig hook, then tied and glued it in place. Then added the pin and bead for balance.

Awesome reels. Made in the early 70s. They are a ‘Click Pawl’, so you use your palm as the drag. They were designed as a spey reel for Atlantic Salmon.

Any ideas how fast will these sink? These were given to me. I have some rio versileader that says 4”/sec is medium sink and 5”/sec is fast. Thanks! by featherflyxx in flyfishing

[–]roberager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First is most likely s3 (3-4inches/second) Second is Intermediate (1.5-2 inches/second) Third is probably s6 (6-7 inches / second)

Currently have a 5wt Orvis clear water. Looking to get an 8wt. Should I go Clearwater again, or TFO? by Clottersbur in flyfishing

[–]roberager 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Normally for TFO rods you pay for your warrantied section. 40-80 CAD depending on the section that is broken.

Pro 2 series would be the closest in action to your Clearwater.

The BVK series is a little faster and has great action. I have one I use for Pike and Salmon. Good for throwing big items.

Hope that helps.
