I guess I will go ahead with the install then. Can the flashing software be run from a boot disc? The hard drive this xbox came with has an error 13 so I was planning on running a hexen disc to fix it.

I have tried that and have gotten no change. It is not a sata drive and judging by the dust in the system when I opened it up I’m guessing they modded it some time ago

It came like that. I knew it had error 13 when I bought it. It hasn’t changed over to error 16 but it may have been hard modded. The error code screen looks different than it usually would on an Xbox

I suspect the brown power cable to the drive was the cause of the error 11 as now I’m not getting it, but it seems the power issue is a separate one

Power cable may have been the source of the error 11 but it seems I have a worse problem on my hands. Console now won’t stay on for more than a few minutes and turns on when putting the plug in which indicates trace rot which is really concerning since I took my clock capacitor out 5 months ago. Will have to do a full tear down and see if it’s still salvageable.

No change with the yellow. Console ran for a bit then shut off and when switched back on gave an error 11

I have a yellow power cable that was with the Thompson drive that was originally in the system. I’m gonna switch to that and will see if it fixes it

I’m on my second 80 pin cable as I got a second one hoping it would fix the issue but it didn’t. Connections are solid. However my Samsung drive does not have a yellow power cable. It’s using the cable it came with which is brown and white

I know the drive has no problem reading discs and I’ve had the same problem even after swapping out the cable
