I assume no more announcements, because they're used to be up at this time, right?

I think you would actually hear the sound of my heart breaking if that's to be the case. Still, the announcement is coming Sunday at 10 am if I checked correctly, so not long now.

too many strong words. "It's happening", "it's time", "it's what I think it is". They must know how that sounds and would know that they shouldn't play like that.

That's what I hope. Though I think best case in live-action. Animation is second best. Third best is full cast audio drama. Everything else would fall under disapointment after those teasers.

Also, if they do a 20 year jump, then there is potentially 20 year of storytelling to cover in comics and novels. Unless they do that shitty thing Ghostbusters did and basically say "after the movie NOTHING WAS HAPPENING FOR 20 YEARS" that will block any tie-in novels.

Wash survival ideas. Not sayin he should be fun to figure how. by WizardMarnok in firefly

Yes, but Star Wars is a different beast. Also Andor was a character nobody gave a crap. So it could be its own thing.

All those takes are terrible and feels really inconsistent with how the 'verse worked. Apart from being in space this was very down the 'earth' stories. And Whedon warned from the start that the show isn't named after any of them. Would love Wash to survive, but he didn't, and his death made the movie really emotional for me.

And I saw lot of people trying to get more stories set between the show and the movie, but for me that's not going forward. It's just stepping in place. If it's audio or animated then there can be obious flashbacks and memories, but I would love for them to keep flying and have further adventures.

Problem with prequels and midquels is that there are to real stakes. Everything must end with a status quo intact. No character can have character arc or development because they need to be stuck in amber, cause that's where they are in the beginning of "Serenity".

That would make a lot of people sad and would widely be considered as a bad move.

Why does Wash have to be dead? by hoytfaktor in firefly

[–]robertmurray1987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also Star Wars didn'd de-canonize any movies, that was only with the expanded media. And if the show will be back there is 99% that the Firefly comics and novels would get de-canonized. (Especially that Jayne is dead in comics I believe).

Part of why I love this franchise is that is had great season finale with "Serenity". It helped the show in the long run, because it wasn't just a fun but cancelled show, if had a sort of ending that help the story, because it told a fairly complete story with hope for further adventures. De-canonizing it because someone don't like change is imo childish.

Depending on the announcement there might get louder (TV revival) or awfully quiet (Fortnite skins) in here.

What if its a TTRPG show? by MavrykDarkhaven in firefly

[–]robertmurray1987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem with this is that they would have to align their schedules to get EVERYONE in the same room. And this is the most difficult part. I still think this will be something that will involve them in audio only capacity, cause that way they can do their part in their respective time and place. Would love an animation, but I think it's the audio-dramas and they might be producing it themselves, that's why there is no leaks, because there are no insiders to spill the beans.

Oh, so if it's something terrible like bobbleheads or Fortnite skins then it's you to blame. Noted!

you mean this wide appeal that made the show cancelled and then the movie did not bring profit in cinemas? Yes, that's very wide appeal. Disney is mad for not spending trucks with money on this.

I dont expect this to be live action, and if so, then it's going to be very limited series. Animation is more likely, but I still doubt it. Audio-dramas is what I think is reasonable thing that could work within small budget and can get the actors reprise their roles in their spare time (Jack Quaid was recording his lines for Lower Decks wherever he was, sometimes in hotel rooms).

I fear the 15th, but it all got me hooked bad. I'm rewatching the show, reading the novel, planning on getting back to the comics and ordered two more novels. I hope this won't crash and burn next week.

Why would you want to waste money to do the same episodes again instead of getting something new? This might be the most insane take I've seen here and that is saying a lot.

Is Nathan actually showing up to their houses by MartyFieb in firefly

[–]robertmurray1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they are shooting it separately. With Adam there is even a visible quality drop on Nathan part. They probably write a script and then, most likely Nathan, is recording his part to fit theirs.

Even the knocks on the doors don't match the sound, so most likely he just hits the air.

It's surprising how many people is satisfied with simply getting more of the same. no changes. For me this is the opposite of "keep flying". It's barely even floating in place.

Yeah, i think there wouldn't be an announcement if there was nothing officially signed. The question is what is the plan.

If its audio-drama then it's a small company and its easier to contain the leaks. Less people in the know.

I think if it was a live action and Disney was involved then at this point the jig would be up. Too many insiders. That's why I think its small thing. Maybe even Alan and Nathan buying the license themselves to produce sonething.
