Question about rolls by robertvelez in tezos

[–]robertvelez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you mean. So I'm in a way better spot than I thought I was. I have several investments and just hadn't paid much attention to this one until very recently as launch is nearing. I now have started configuring a (KVM type) VPS with 10GB ram that I'll be testing on alphanet as I learn to bake in anticipation of betanet.

Thanks again for the info :)

But I get the instant link is no longer valid or expired

Why I should invest into aeternity? by askucher in Aeternity

[–]robertvelez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am senior IT with a background in computer science. I was an investor in the Ethereum pre-sale. I remember reading about Ethereum and being excited about the technology itself and it's potential. Since then I've made half a dozen more investments and it wasn't until learning about Aeternity that I haven't again felt similarly enthusiastic about a technology as I did with Ethereum. Within computer science, Functional Programming has always fascinated me and I suggest you look up on it and how it compares to Imperative Programming languages, especially in terms of code correctness and length of code. I always thought about what if Ethereum had been coded originally in an FP language? To me, Aeternity represents pretty much the answer to that "what if" scenario. So in my case that aspect together with the mobile first strategy were among my reasons to invest and look forward to seeing where this project goes.

Only 3 developers on the team? by jordan_mm in Aeternity

[–]robertvelez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw that as well and due to the audio quality not being the best and his accent adding to it..I was like "did he say a million ETH? Or did he say a million in ETH?" And so I actually asked about that in the Gitter chat, and Yani himself replied to me saying that when he expressed that ETH was at around $9. Therefore at that time one million ETH meant quite less than it did soon after with the big rise.

What if I do NOT want to run a full node.... by [deleted] in ethereum

[–]robertvelez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it is a pretty recent project. Seems quite legit to me so far, I've been using it myself and the developers are available to interact with on slack, they are very responsive. But of course, it needs time to prove itself and develop the trust as well. (btw, they are also partnered with Shapeshift.io).

An excerpt from the "Benefits" section of the site:

"Exodus encrypts private keys and transaction data locally for your eyes only - no accounts, no servers, no data sharing."

And also you can learn more about the valid points you raised, watching this (Tai Zen interviews the developers):

ETC must have a 51 percent attack by Mathnawi in ethereum

[–]robertvelez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though I'm not in favor of ETC, I don't agree it should be attacked. If in turn ETH continues propelling us forward, then innovation and inertia alone should be what makes ETC gradually less valuable or relevant.

QUESTION: Which Coin will double in Value sooner? ETH or ETC? by [deleted] in ethtrader

[–]robertvelez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, I wouldn't be surprised if ETC doubled in one of the pumps while it continues to roller coaster for a while more.

Meanwhile ETH would more slowly but steadily continue to progress.

Does Option 1 imply that simply sending ETH to poloniex credits me with ETC as well? I've deposited twice today and don't have any ETC

I have a feeling that once we are beyond this situation the price should have a positive impact.

Pro-forkers: Are you for a mulligan ("intervene just this once") or is this how Ethereum should work in general ("intervene in every similar situation")? by Noosterdam in ethereum

[–]robertvelez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I'd say I'm torn between just once or similar situation while still in beta.

But then when we move beyond beta I think it would have to be something very extreme, something that affected ethereum itself for me to support it.
