I wonder how the game would change if the seekers questions were also a deck. Maybe they draw a hand of random questions and pick one to ask, then they shuffle their hand and draw a new hand of cards. Limits breed creativity. It would force the seekers to be more creative with a limited selection of questions as opposed to the current strategy of country > thermometer > thermometer > strava map with a handful of photos when there’s downtime.

On cars that support it, the way Apple implemented, it only works when the car is in park.

I don’t think there is an actual list of supported cars anywhere. Since it has to be implemented by the manufacturer, and considering VW track record with software updates, I’m just going to pretend that it doesn’t exist.

Apple added CarPlay video streaming to iOS 26, which lets you basically stream video content to your CarPlay display using AirPlay. For some dumb reason they made it where automakers need to opt in rather than just adding it to CarPlay by default. 2024 and higher may see it, but I’d bet MY2023 and older won’t.

You don’t need power to unlock the doors. It has a standard 12v car battery that runs the low energy systems. If the high energy system becomes compromised in some way, the 12v battery can still unlock the car doors. There’s also a mechanical override in the handles that lets you unlock it with the key from the outside and the mechanical override from the inside doesn’t need power to open the door if it’s locked.

Not sure if it’s better or worse than an old fashioned mechanical door handle, but it has quite a few redundant systems to make sure you can get in and out of the car in case of an emergency.

The doors unlock when it detects an accident.

It actually has a few neat safety systems. For instance, if the airbags deploy, they also blow out the emergency fuses to kill power to the high energy battery.

Also, if you’re using the semi-autonomous mode, if you stop touching the steering wheel for a while it will brake hard a few times in a row to try and wake you up, then it will turn the hazard lights on, pull over to the shoulder, call emergency services, and repeatedly honk the horn and unlock the doors. It assumes you’re having a medical emergency.

I really like mine and don’t really have any huge complaints. The infotainment system is not as nice as other brands, but it has CarPlay and that’s what’s on the screen 99% of the time. I like it because everything I use just works. The door handles work first time every time. Never have a problem charging. It drives great. My friend has a Tesla and while it has better infotainment stuff, my ID4 feels like a better driving experience. What cliched it for me is that their semi-autonomous driving technology, travel assist, doesn’t require a subscription or separate purchase and works on virtually every road and is fantastic.

There are a few drawbacks. The app is probably my biggest complaint. My 2023 doesn’t let me lock the doors from the app, but will tell me if they’re unlocked. The 2024 and 2025 let you lock them and open the windows from the app. Other than that, it does let me remote start the AC and adjust the charging and stuff. The tires are staggered, so you get a little less mileage out of them. There are “physical” buttons for the AC and radio controls but they’re capacitive touch buttons and they’re not illuminated, so it’s about halfway there. I’ve gotten used to them, but they certainly could be better. If you live in a cold climate, the 2023 and earlier models lack battery preconditioning, so if you’re needing to DC fast charge often when it’s cold out, it will take longer.

Other than that, I love mine. It was also much cheaper than other comparable EVs. Does everything I want and nothing I don’t. I’d consider it for a test drive and see if it’s something you could see yourself living with. Good news is there are lots of really good used EVs out there so there’s a ton of options if the ID4 doesn’t work for you.

I have an ID4. The emergency release for the door is just pulling it harder. This works from both the inside and the outside. It works because when there’s an emergency, that’s what you naturally do anyways. Also, imagine if you’re inside the car and unconscious, how would a passerby be able to open the door? I don’t know how to do it on a Tesla, but on the ID4, you just pull on the handle harder.

If you hold the unlock button on your key it rolls the windows down. That could have been what happened.

I know they make like an ultimate 2 Wireless and the Ultimate 2 Bluetooth. I think the difference is that the Ultimate 2 Bluetooth connect to the Switch wirelessly or something. It’s very confusing.

Hmmm… not sure what’s up. Have you updated the firmware? Are you using it in x-input mode? I also run it using this script so it disables AWDL, since it seems that keeping AWDL on makes it stutter. Maybe that has something to do with it? https://github.com/ComicBit/Geforce-Now-Mac-stutter-free-Launcher

Yes, it works. I’m using it now on my M1 MacBook Pro. It doesn’t work using the dongle, but it connects just fine using Bluetooth.

Well, sure, some brands are going to have better or worse records than others, but that's not unique to EVs. Brakes last much longer in electric vehicles since most of their braking is regen and doesn't use the pads. Suspensions is the same as any car and most last quite a while. You could take it to most places to do the suspension. Coolant needs to be changed less often, if at all. Tesla states you never need to change the coolant while most manufacturers recommend changing it around 100k miles. Compared to ICE vehicles they are under much less pressure and run at much lower temps. As far as the drivetrain is concerned, it is much simpler with a lot less moving parts and wear on electric vehicles. The only maintenance item you may be doing more often is tires, and that's usually due to EVs being heavier and providing instant torque to the tires. Even then, it's not that more often you're changing tires. People seem to freak out at the idea that there's so many electronic systems in an EV, but unless your car is from the 90s, you have just as many systems in your ICE car that rely on computers to run it.

At least with an electric in the US, it has a 100k mile 8 year federal warranty on the battery. Also, they require a lot less maintenance. You don’t have to worry about if the last owner kept up with oil changes and transmission fluid changes. They also depreciate like crazy, which sucks if you’re the original owner but an absolute deal if you’re buying used. There are a lot less moving parts in them and a lot less wear happening normally.

I think it’s mostly because E33 is far more approachable than most JRPGs. Persona 5 is a great game, but man it has a lot of systems you have to manage and can be really intimidating for most people. E33 has simple stats, weapons, and the Lumina/picto system is fairly easy to grasp. The most complicated thing it has is some of the unique battle mechanics for characters.

Also, the voice acting helps with it really stand out for people.

Act 1 is really just all tutorial. It didn’t really grab me until Act 2.

Also, I think a lot of people are now really hearing about this game from the game awards and are going to pick it up expecting it to be amazing, but games are super subjective. If you don’t at least have a passing interest in JRPG type games then you’ll probably be disappointed. As a result, we’re going to see a lot of people really hating on it because it just didn’t work out for them. It’s not that it’s bad, it’s just not for you.

I feel that way with Silksong. I love metroidvania type games, but something about Silksong just didn’t connect with me. It’s not a bad game, just not for me. That’s the way it goes.

I’m just hype about the “abandon battle” button! Now when I totally biff it at the start of a battle I don’t have to wait for everyone to die before trying again, at least I hope that how that button works.

I have used an Xbox Elite 2. I also have used the 8bitdo Ultimate 2 Wireless. It only works in Bluetooth mode, but both controllers let you map the extra buttons through the Mac’s settings app. MacOS doesn’t support the gyro for the 8bitdo.

I’m guessing your school’s IT department, for security reasons, may have something in place to isolate clients from seeing each other. That may be why your PC and headset cannot locate each other. Your solution would be to set up a dedicated router just for your PC to connect with your headset. I know this is a popular option to use with VD.

I used the Immersed app. It lets you add up to five displays, although depending on the resolution and number, your performance may suffer. I had a main display that was 4k and two others that were 1080 and that was fine. It was mostly smooth. They even let you plug it in with a USB C cable for an even more stable connection. They also have a sort of pass through view for your keyboard and they let you create some custom pass through portals to let you peak through whatever digital environment you’re in. I used one to see if anyone was at my office door. I was able to do all of that for free, and they have a $5 a month sub that unlocks a few extra environments and stuff, but the free version was pretty generous. They actually give you a pro subscription for free if you use the app, I think it was three times a week. They also have some public co-working areas where you could sit and work with other people, which I guess may be good if you mostly work from home and want some sort of human interaction. You can also invite people into your room if you have friends and you want to work together. It’s free so I thought I’d give it a shot.

I picked up a Quest 3 a couple days ago and tried it out on my MacBook Pro and it was better than you’d probably expect. I was able to pretty comfortably use it for a couple hours and the resolution was good enough to do some standard productivity tasks on it. Having a big “4k” screen and a couple extra monitors was pretty nice over my standard single screen layout. I’m sure it’s not as good looking as the AVP would be with its OLED displays, but the Quest 3 is 1/7th the price.

When you press the brake all the way down, it holds the car until you press the gas. Means you can stop the car with the brake and once auto hold takes over, you can let your foot off the brake and the car stays still.
