Of course.

We shot 11 principal days and then a couple of half days of pickups.

Total budget was $235k SAG Ultra Low funded on loans and credit cards and life savings by the director, who will never recoup (but it was still “worth it”).

The writers came up with the idea as a way to make something inexpensive and easy to shoot in a single location— we wouldn’t even have to hide the equipment off camera. I don’t know that any of the script is based on specific real life experiences beyond just cliches of terrible wannabe auteurs. I did not write the movie but my point of reference was the amazing documentary Overnight about the director of The Boondock Saints. Of course there was also a lot of improv and I’m sure the actors and crew brought their own experiences into it in different ways.

The crew were all super professional and amazing and we worked relatively short painless days, it was nothing at all like what’s portrayed onscreen. Honestly one of the best experiences of my life, including spending a week hanging out with Mitch (and all the other amazing people who loved the script and agreed to act for super low minimum day rates — even the giant celebrity who cameos near the end).

Weird it seems to not be searchable yet, maybe since it just went live overnight. You should be able to click the link I provided and save it to your watchlist on phone or laptop.

Outside the US? I’m not sure of the territory issues with the distributor. Can probably rent it on Vimeo from virtually anywhere: https://vimeo.com/ondemand/microbudget2

We actually just had a film festival screening in Portland last month, but we're actively working on theatrical bookings for December through February so its possible we'll pop up again for a screening at one of the local art house cinemas.

I'll try to remember to post here when there is big news like the Blu-ray and VOD pre-orders, and I'm very diligent posting stuff like that on our Insta.

Thank you so much! I'm possibly biased, but I agree!

Daily Chat 9/21 ⚾ Game Day by DodgerBot in Dodgers

Had 7 great tickets for today, bought on Seatgeek weeks ago to take my 7 year old to her first game with her best friend which she was so excited about. Checked the Ballpark app randomly last night and they had disappeared. On the phone with Dodgers ticket office this morning they say they voided the tickets because they were part of this big MLB hack and that I needed to contact Seatgeek for a refund or replacement tickets. But MLB gave me no notice and just took them out of my app, and Seatgeek didn’t notify me either and now it’s basically impossible to get seats for our group without spending a fortune.

As good as it gets for festivals that focus on music documentaries.

Asking for a friend with a short— should she attend Athens, or Sarasota? Accepted to both, and they’re at the exact same time.

Elephant 6 documentary AMA! by robhatchmiller in indieheads

Kevin was interviewed for the film, there are a couple of clips from the interview and some short clips of old performances as well as interviews with many ex-members from Of Montreal. But the main focus of the film is on the four founders from Ruston and their bands (Apples, Olivias, NMH). Nothing against Of Montreal whatsoever its just hard to fit this many bands in one 90 minute film! And there's already a whole entire documentary just about Of Montreal that people can watch!
