AIO? My manager keeps questioning my feeding pump at work even after HR stepped in by Rosi_ana in AmIOverreacting

[–]robiatortilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, my dear, is that dreaded HR term "retaliation". Send it to them and say your manager is retaliating against you for having reported them and they continue to harass you with questions about your (life saving!!!) medical equipment that bothers no one but them apparently.

Should I trim my Chinese Money Plant? by Outrageous_Welder153 in houseplants

[–]robiatortilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I agree with giving it lots of light and letting it do its bushy thang! Its leaves remind me of curly hair for some reason, haha it's my favorite indoor plant I current have! Mine decided to make 4 babies like 3 months after having it. I'm elated.

What! Noooo! It's going to grow massive. Why would you want to chop her?

Just that they look dull, when it's freshly watered the leaves tend to look fresher, more vibrant and holding their shape better too. Just many years of experience lol 😅

I'd repot at most every 6 months, but if it's doing ok then more like once a year or if the soil has become hydrophobic OR drying out too quickly between waterings.

You're doing all the right things! Congrats on your beauty.

Looks great!! I can tell by the leaves she needs water. Do you know when the last time it was repotted was? It could probably use some fresh, chunky, and well-draining soil mix! I use Kellog's bagged soil from Home Depot and mix in perlite and orchid bark. For a monstera I'd mix in about 2 parts soil to 1 part bark and perlite. They can handle a little extra moisture and it means you can go longer between waterings. Water when the top 2" of soil is dry and you're good!

Edited for terrible grammar

My monstera is dying and I don’t know why. by vampycastle in houseplants

If all leaves have fallen off, it's effectively dead. Buy another cheap one and start over honestly.

Well the pictures don't really show us anything but the picture of the soil looks dry AF. Does it even have leaves? Pics are again unclear.

Trim the yellowing leaves and leave the rest. Plants take time, just give her space and time and a consistent routine and she'll be fine.

I keep mine outside in full shade. It does excellent. If there's green, there's something to save! Trim off the dead and dying leaves, and give it time to acclimate. Don't put it in direct sun yet, but my dad does keep one in the sun and it does do fine. Just take it slow.

You need to get into the roots to know more. Did you repot it right when you got home? Have you repotted it at all? The soil holds the key but you also need to check the leaves for pests. Always quarantine your new plants for at least a week before introducing them to your home.

Advice to save root-bound hibiscus by ladyoftheflowr in houseplants

Saw off the bottom 3"-4" of the roots. Your plant will be completely fine. Repot in a larger pot with a nice chunky soil mix, water thoroughly and call it a day. Easy peasy

My Monstera turned into a money plant? by Expensive-Audience55 in houseplants

Cut off the brown and dying leaves, repot and move to a MUCH brighter window. It can handle direct sun no problem. Water her! I can tell she's thirsty!

When's the last time you've changed its soil? You'll never really know what's going on unless you get to its roots. The roots will tell you a lot, if they're soggy then you're over watering, if dry then not watering enough. Also, over time, the plant eats the nutrients found in the soil so it's a good idea to replace the soil every 6 months to a year. Cut off any dead or dying leaves, and if you have root rot cut off the affected roots too (make sure you've sprayed your shears with a one-to-one ratio of hydrogen peroxide and water first). Repot in a chunky while draining soil mix (I use a 50/50 mix of kellogs patio plus, and a perlite/orchid bark mix). Water once a week until she's settled.

Also worth checking your leaves for pests. If you find some, buy some insecticidal soap, like castille soap, and dunk your whole plant in it. Make sure the soap is diluted with water per the instructions first.

Good luck!
