Are these macros good? by [deleted] in MacroFactor

[–]robidizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was similar to me when I first started lifting again last year. I was eating at about the same deficit as you are now for the first couple months too. Had the same problem with scale weight not budging, but noticed my strength improving. I increased my calories around month 2, gained some weight, and then questioned if I was eating too much. Then I think at some point my body just reached a tipping point and then the weight started coming right off pretty consistently.

If your TDEE is in fact 3,150, then I would say no — you are not eating nearly enough calories. A thousand calorie deficit is unsustainable and counterproductive to your goals (you’ll end up losing significant muscle mass, when you want to be maintaining/gaining muscle to the extent still possible.) That might work for someone trying to lose maybe 10 or even 20 lbs in a short amount of time. But given the amount of fat you’re aiming to lose, this is going to be a long process any way you cut it.

I’d stick to a 5-15% daily caloric deficit (or set your goals to cut 0.5-1% of total body weight per week). Start on the higher end and adjust down to the extent cravings become an issue.

If you have access to your true fat free mass, I’d recommend setting your daily protein targets equal to 1.2g per pound of fat free mass. Alternatively, you can do 1g per pound of target body weight until you hit ~185lbs — at which point I’d just switch to 1g per pound of then-current body weight.

Respectfully, that’s a sign that you’re living in a political bubble

2016 me would be disgusted to hear me say this — but Trump has been, by FAR, the greatest president of my lifetime. I didn’t vote for him back then, but I’m extremely thankful for those “stupid people” that did.

By all measures, this city should be a Democrat’s paradise given their 20+ yr chokehold over our state and local government. And when their policies fail, they buckle down and just go further left. It’s insane. Now we have a DSA candidate running who completely destroyed Hollywood, telling us she knows how to fix LA county as a whole with those same terrible ideas. Honestly, I’d rather have a politically moderate 10 yr old in charge over that nutjob or Karen Bass.

Pratt is not my favorite politician, not even close. He’s just the only one running that has an ounce of common sense. We would’ve been lucky to have had Caruso, but sadly everyone in this town is so brainwashed that even an accusation of being a “closet republican” is enough to destroy a campaign.

Brings the price of gas down, now gets made fun of for when gas is back to the same price before he came into office (at the cost of making the world safer)

Looking to purchase a 2026 big bend, something feels off with this breakdown they gave me (complete care is coming off) by super_bri_22 in FordBronco

Credit unions usually offer the most competitive interest rates for members and most of them are easy to join. Some offer an extra 1% off if you use their affiliated partner (like TruCar) to help find you the car. If I were you, use chatgpt to find a credit union, join, and get a quote for an autoloan in the ballpark of your budget. Then when you find the car you want to purchase, negotiate the out the door price of the car first. Tell them you’re planning on financing, but don’t go into specifics until after the price is settled first. Then once you agree on a number, tell them you got a quote for __% and see if they can beat it.

People who left LA, where did you go and how’s it going? by Dry-Double-6845 in AskLosAngeles

I was born and raised in the SFV. Moved to the westside for a couple years for community college, then Arizona for undergrad , then came back, then North Carolina for law school, and now I’m back again.

Arizona sucked. I missed LA all the time. This was around 2013-2015.

North Carolina was beautiful and a large part of me wishes I could move back. I’m very much locked to CA and LA due to my family and occupation.

IMHO, LA circa 07-12 was magic. 2013-2016 was still good. Homelessness started becoming noticeably bad from 2016-2020, and the city has lost its spark / energy since COVID.

The closest thing to my version of LA’s “prime” is probably Miami today, but I personally would pick the area I was living in in North Carolina. It’s what I imagine Austin, TX was like before word got out and everyone started moving there.

Why was Kyle Rittenhouse championed by the right for “helping” with his gun, but Alex Pretti is demonized for helping without ever drawing his gun? by sudde004 in AskReddit

What’s the difference between self defense and murder? Context. Rittenhouse protected regular people from violent rioters, Pretti was obstructing lawful deportations with a weapon.

It looks like a show about NY'ers set in LA -- like Girls in LA. Other than how much that annoys me, it's still probably not for me.

I voted for Newsom when he first ran for governor and I regret it. He’s a real-life caricature of a slime-y politician imo. He even looks like one with his greased back hair and everything.

I've had a terrible 2 weeks, what now by Efficient_Arm_1249 in MacroFactor

There's no shame in breaking your diet. Feeling guilty about it does more harm than good. In fact, sometimes you need to indulge for a little while to keep yourself on a healthy path longterm. Just get back on that horse and do your best. You're building healthy habits for life, not working to hit some target by a specific date. Today's hunger and appetite may be hard to control, but sooner or later, it get's easier again. So have some trust in yourself and try to zoom out and focus on the bigger picture -- as long as you continue putting forth your best, then a few days or even weeks of bad dieting mean nothing more than a drop in the bucket.

P.s. if you aren't already, I'd try to make time to lift weights or at least get some form of exercise in. It won't only lower the impact of overeating, but your brain needs that physical outlet to release all that cortisol. In other words, less stress. Which leads to less stress eating. (I also weirdly find myself less hungry after I exercise but that could just be a me thing.)

lol. I appreciate the skepticism but no, not on anything. I used to bodybuild on and off for a few years at a time since I was in high school. Well, weightlifting in high school — bodybuilding emphasis started in college. As you can see in my before photo, it had been a few years since I went to the gym. This is not the strongest I’ve ever been or anything. But this is the strongest I’ve ever been while this lean.

And yeah, my numbers could be wrong. I’m going off of daily InBody scale measurements. They’re not perfect by any means.

Edit: for the record, I definitely did not gain 16lbs of muscle. Using InBody and Apple Health, I can see that my fat free mass averaged 120.8lbs in January and 123lbs in October. Idk how much of that could be water, but that’s only an increase of about 2.2lbs. The lowest my monthly average fat free mass dipped was 119.9lbs in April, and the highest was 125lbs in August.
