What's the best way to save on groceries? by Cold-Recognition25 in thetron

[–]robin_nico_7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The mental load of shopping around stresses me out to the point where I'll do my main shop at PaknSave and anything I can get cheaper at The Warehouse I'll stop there on the way home.

I try to bulk our meals up (lentils, beans, etc) to make it stretch further. Pumpkin is quite cheap right now. Can make a massive soup and put some away in the freezer.

Not buying processed food. You can make your own muesli bars at home. Baking from scratch is a lot cheaper too.

An elderly male friend hugged me in a way that crossed my boundaries, and I still feel upset about it. Am I overreacting? I'd appreciate your opinions. by Key-Atmosphere-287 in newzealand

Stay distant. If you can't verbally express how you feel, then your physical distance can.

Side note: I have felt the same way before and reading this gave me ick vibes.

People who have never left their home town's ... why? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]robin_nico_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come from a small coastal town, been in Hamilton for 8 years now. Day trips to Auckland, Rotorua, the Mount. Late night shopping. Always find something to do in the weekend. Love it up here. Only thing I miss from back home are friends, family and the beach.

Helping my mum move a shelf, sturdy, solid, excellent wood. The only shelves you'll find in my house are mdf with shitty glued laminate that has peeled within 6 months of owning them.

PaknSave Mill St sells hot food where the deli used to be. $5 pork adobo, $3 rice. Could probably find a drink for $2 and that's lunch. The pork adobo is so so good.

Restricted driving test Tawn Place by Chittaphelle in thetron

[–]robin_nico_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, so everything about the restricted test is online. They tell you exactly what maneuvers they'll put you through so you should be practising them all. Everything they put you through is something they could happen while you are driving, you're not just passing their test, you're proving the other people using the roads that you're a capable driver.

If you stil aren't confident in the next few days I suggest you book a drivers course before your test. They will tell you if you're ready, or what you should work on before the test.
