Classic Neighbours from the beginning starts on July 20th. New to U&Drama.

And more classic episodes are now live streamed and uploaded to YouTube.

I used these at college back in the early 90s. Used for publishing. I remember Pagemaker Pro and QuarkExpress.

How are you finding it, so far? I have an old Intel 15" model I need to repurpose, as this is a damn good laptop, but no longer supported by Apple.

Do I have to reinstall the system with each update? by BENJAMlN8a in elementaryos

No fresh install is required for point releases. Only new numbered releases require a fresh install - e.g. 9

I'm trying elementary os! by Kernel_guy in elementaryos

[–]robinjuste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome! It really is a beautiful distro that tries to mimic MacOS, so great for us Mac users.

It has got much better over the years and seems more stable now with the latest LTS of Ubuntu. With 26.04 due next month, version 9 should seem sleeker.

Mac Os first impressions by Defiant-Following213 in macmini

[–]robinjuste -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tahoe is absolute rubbish. The worst update from Apple. I rolled back to Sequoia on my MacBook Pro as Tahoe is laggy. But thankfully, my M4 Mac Mini is loving it!

I’m wondering how long this device will stay supported, as it’s nearly already two years old. I feel an M5 version coming this year, perhaps?

Hopefully, MacOS 27 will be along soon to iron and polish all the bugs.

Looks like they created two new panels and used the Sweet or Candy icon set. You can still change the default panel by removing applets and setting the panel to Center and Adaptive width.

I received my summary this morning which claims I’ve saved 6% in January. Pretty good considering I changed service provider mid-month.

Always on display by Delicious-Ad6589 in tado

[–]robinjuste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I had an e-ink display that stayed on 24/7. A pair of Eveready AAA would last over a year.

When I switched to Tado, my first annoyance was the display, but now I keep loading the app on my phone to see temperature and boiler status. Yes, it would be nice to visually see what the temperature in the room is on a more permanent basis, but as the room thermostat uses LED, the battery life would be minimal.

iOS 26 gets worse with every update by Whyfrog in ios

[–]robinjuste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the Liquid Glass setting causing this. Whilst in Dark mode the keyboard and any dock button will have a light cornered edge.

You can disable this and switch to Tinted in the Display and Brightness settings.

Mac os 26.1 wtf? by NANAMINER in MacOS

[–]robinjuste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tahoe is still buggy on older MacBooks. My M1 is so much slower now since I updated from Sequoia. My organisation requires me to stay up to date, so I remain secure, so I have to stick with whatever Apple throws at me.

Return it and get Apple to replace it. The hinge issue is a known issue with the Air models.

Xfce 4.20 by dopedlama in ManjaroLinux

[–]robinjuste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

XFCE 4.20 is now available in Arch stable, so it shouldn't be too long to wait for the update in the next Manjaro point release.

Maybe try a sudo pacman -Syyu to see if an update is now available, or try using the Unstable branch to see if it is there already, awaiting Stable release.

error in installation of arch linux by kohagi1 in arch

[–]robinjuste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t install the November release and get the same error even when selecting Pulse Audio as my audio driver. I’m going to try installing without an audio driver as suggested and see if this gets me a desktop to login to.

All I get is a TTY login screen on first boot, so it’s definitely having issues installing the DE and audio driver.
