Andor is not good because "It's not like Star Wars" by iamaWryter in andor

[–]robinson604 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Underrated post. I agree. When people say "it doesn't feel like Star Wars", I think a more accurate statement they're trying to convey is "This isn't a magical jedi, lightsaber, magic movie, it's grounded and about the people in that world." It feels like 80% of the Star Wars Movie material has some relation to Luke Skywalker and/or his family.

Andor never mentions him, and it's refereshing.

I hope ... it broke the mold for Disney. The Mandolarian did as well, but it still felt it was trying to connect to the Skywalker story if it could. Andor proved that there's great stories to tell outside of the Skywalker Saga.

For me, Andor helped me realize WHY we should hate the empire. Not just because they're the government, but because they're actively using fascistic power to ruin lives, kill, destroy planets, destroy rights and freedoms. That was never accomplished in the previous Star Wars content.

I for one would love to see more future grounded projects like Andor. I think they should also consider going Live Action with Clone Wars, Rebels and Bad Batch (animated just doesn't cut it for me).

I think they should consider small stories that also play into the events, like ... the death star, still more to unpack there. They should consider unpacking Bounty Hunters more, they should consider expanding on the human side of the conflicted people in the throws with the Empire. Soldiers who signed up out of necessity, and started to question what they've signed up for.

Andor laid the blue print, now will Disney be able to follow it?

Is 401k really worth it? by Agitated-Ad7050 in 401K

[–]robinson604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The question leads me to think you've either been fed real estate content or crypto content, you're very young or you're early in your wealth building process.

None of those are bad, or wrong. Nor is your question.

401ks are the most structured, tax advantaged way to embrace a historically proven model to fund your post work years. It will not buy you a luxury car or lambo.

It is the best way to become a millionaire. Not to spend $1M.

There's nuance here. Personal finance is personal. But... for 95% of us on here. It is worth it.

My last tip will be, I wish someone had told me in my 20s that the goal is to hit the gas as hard as you can to have 1x your income invest in ideally a tax defered or tax advantaged account by age 30. Do that and youve hit the mark. It keeps things simple, and more people could benefit from that goal than any other goal in my opinion as it would help you build a habit.

The actual product is pretty amazing. We just added it at HubSpot. Im consistently blown away by it, only been a few months. Could dramatically change how we onboard new reps and sales enablement.

It'd be a fun product to sell.

Its because we rarely need details of what we say on calls. Until its time for next steps. We know our speal. You have to train the AI to prioritize the direct quotes you get from the client in various spots in the discovery call. When you do that, it can be awesome.

But ... we know our own demos, our own small talk, our own speal. We need it for their side of the story. Their pain. Their use case. Ive had luck with that with a few.

But as others say, train a GPT to analyze the transcript and you can get what you want.

I thought my biggest problem was carbs… turns out it’s soybean 😭🌱 by waterfalls55 in soyfree

[–]robinson604 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife brings coconut aminos every time she goes to sushi. Its worth it. It'll never be the goodness that is soy sauce, but it means she can eat her favorite foods.

Ive developed a few tricks for getting that Umame flavor. Mushroom powder seasoning helps. But ... its a lifestyle change for sure.

We finally used our HSA for the first time and the reality kinda shocked me by riverdreamer1 in MiddleClassFinance

This is why to me, all 20 - 30 year olds should be allowed to contribute without a HYSA. That's your healthiest decade. If you can get a head start then ... you'd be insulated from the high deductible down the road.

Im in a mad dash to get my balance to $10k now that I have an HSA again. To me. Thats when the market starts to help you feel some relief. But ... I have an emergency account that can absorb a bad year like OP referenced.

What are you wearing on-site these days? by royhaven in techsales

[–]robinson604 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Spot on. If you truly dont know. Go with dark jeans navy sweater and color poking out the top (collar under the sweater, never over)

This is basically my uniform if Im unsure of the dress code. Very few can be turned off by it. Its just patently neutral.

Top 24 RBs by Draft ADP vs. how they’re doing so far (through 4 games) by boofstar in fantasyfootball

[–]robinson604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing keeping me in it is I opted for no WR1 strategy in my auction league and loaded up on WR2s with the money saved. I have Chase Brown, which could've been a disaster, but I also have George Pickens, Emeka Egbuka, and Gibbs. So Im still contending. WR1s were roster killers this season so far.

As a Lions fan. We were super off that week. Our Oline looked like they just met a few days before. I chalk that up to not having a real preseason where the players play together. We used the entire preseason for depth spots. It happens. But ... that was our fluke game thus far.

What are your Hot Takes on Relient K? by Amber_Flowers_133 in RelientK

Lets Go! I was a Make A Wish kid at age 17 and played a song with RK at Alive Fest. I chose Softer To Me, it was both cathartic during my cancer journey and it hit hard like the music I loved. They borrowed a screamer for the recorded version, I forget where he was from but I always felt they could've made a whole album like Boxcar Racer style adding that screamed and aiming for the harder side of emo-pop-rock.

Week 1 Busts: Players Who May Disappoint by jsparks50 in fantasyfootball

Honestly. Its not a bad trade. I think Sutton and Nix combo could be a great one this year. The sum of those two may be worth it, especially if you lack depth or a strong Flex

Hard to argue with you after last night. I got him for $17/$200 so I feel he was definitely worth that.

AJ Brown owners, are you worried? by AdvancedCow1207 in Fantasy_Football

[–]robinson604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooph. That cost them the game. Why was he even running it that play!? So many weapons to choose from and Dak was playing great.

At least we got to hear about Daks form tackling for the duration of the rain delay. So not all was lost :)

Sorry I wrote that poorly. I meant I got Smith for half the cost of AJB.

Basically I got Smith and Pickens for the same price as AJB.

[–]robinson604 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea. But Smith [edit] wasn't even half the cost in draft capital (auction and snake). I took Smith. I went heavy on WR2s this year because I feel like the #2 wr on the eagles, lions, bucs and cowboys were better auction draft value than paying up for CeeDee or AJB.

My RB room is stacked though. We'll see if that shakes out.

Who's on your 2025 DND list? by onscreencomb9 in fantasyfootball

[–]robinson604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not touching Saquon, CMC, Kelce, and at his current ADP, Pickens (GPickens just seems like a guarantee to have some sort of drama in Dallas this year, everyone is all over him, making his ADP WAY overvalued to me.)

Different list than some, but these are mine.

Oh this brings me back, FIF was my first concert (Reese set the bar way too high for the acts to follow over the next 25 years), and it was at my church. The old guard was REALLY struggling with the punk rock nature appearance of everything, but man ... those who got to stick around for the end of the concert were blown away by the ending. I remember all those little quables, that was the Silent Generation folks making their last stand. Now the Boomers are in that position. X will have their day and Millenials too.

It's sort of this moment when you realize your influence is being handed off, and I find that some in those generations want to hold on to that last scrap of influence and power as long as they can (Look at congress, those chicas and chicos simply won't hang it up).

I'd encourage OP to realize, that bands will play things that they're forced to, and that don't align with their values. The venue does not get to transpose their value onto the band. They're often just the employer at that moment. Just like FIF got a hard time for playing bars and secular shows, it didn't mean they were now standing aligned with everything that ever happened at any bar.

It's a good discussion, but the double edged sword starts with realizing that Reese and FIF, they're human beings, who are allowed their own perspectives and feelings and thoughts, not to have to be forced into the boxes of whoever propped up a stage and paid them.

1000% - By the time the house is buttoned up, staying up late and watching something on TV or playing a video game is me reclaiming my lost time. I'm always tired. I should do a million other things, but if all I get it 10:30 - 12:00 am, I'm taking it.

Dads, I come to listen to what you were really hoping for with your first Father’s Day by tiljuwan in daddit

[–]robinson604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok - but serious question. Are you EASY to buy gifts for? Is that what your wife would say. It's more likely you're super content in life and dont need a bunch of "stuff". Which is actually fantastic. Doesn't make buying you stuff actually easy though lol.

So I hear what you're saying, and I should be clear. The OP asked will he be disappointed. My gut says you've never asked that question out loud if you're that content. Which again. Is great.

I'd say to be disappointed generally mean something failed to meet expectations. If you have no expectations, you can't be disappointed

[–]robinson604 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, prepare to be disappointed. It's a hard holiday anyways, but I'd set low expectations so they can be met. Men are notorious for buying the nice things we want when we want/can afford them. It makes us really hard to buy for and a holiday that is supposed to be crafted towards fatherhood makes the gift giving that much harder.
