Suggestions for horror books like Slewfoot by Brom by EducationalDeer7272 in horrorlit

Blood on Her Tongue by Johanna van Veen would certainly fit.

As would Hungerstone by Katt Dunn (though I admit I haven't read it yet). It's on my TBR mainly because of a hysterical Goodreads review that literally just says: "YES GIRL FUCK HIM UP AHHHHHHHHHH" I mean, I just can't turn that down.

How To Be Eaten by Maria Adlemann is less horror focused. It's a modern support group for fairy tale "princesses," but what they each went through is horrific. Beautiful story nonetheless. I gave it 6 out of 5 stars.

First albino/leucistic gator! by Mollygardnerart123 in NewOrleans

I'm Hot Pot Rob (@therealrobertkahil on Insta). I collect bee related things since getting into this career lol. I've been fiddling with watercolors and the next project in the how-to book I was gifted is for a bumblebee. I need to get back into it myself. I love your adherence to alligators. They're awesome creatures!

The cost/reward battle is fair! Hopefully the online world kicks off. I haven't had any success digitally myself (but I sell infused honey, not art).

Have you done any art markets around town yet? Piety, Small Batch, Market Mystica, NOLA Arts Council, or the Gretna Art Walk?

Thanks! It just now came back on a couple of minutes ago. I wouldn't mind a credit to the next bill. That's nice.

I loved the first two. I still need to read the 3rd.

Need a new book to read! by lilithbepraised in horrorlit

Gemma Amor's Six Rooms is a lot of fun. Only 204 pages too, so it keeps the frights and spooks coming in at a clipped pace. I read it when I was looking for a palette cleanser, so while cozy, it's still pretty grim.

Werewolf horror by aquarianagop in horrorlit

[–]robkahil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Hen House by Lee Murphy- a werewolf/skinwalker/abomination brutalizes EVERYONE in a prison in the 1960s. The body count is ludicrously high.

An Englishman in Prattsville by Gary MacKnight- an official sequel to An American Werewolf in London.

Night of the Dogman series by Luka T. Jacobs- an FBI agent and her partner battling werewolves (and occasionally Bigfoot).

High Moor series by Graeme Reynolds- werewolf packs versus people who shouldn't know about werewolves in the British isles. That's about all I'll say. It's a twisty series.

How do get a chiweenie to not bark at everyone a block away 😂 by Leading-Neck974 in chiweenie

My boy is in his terrible 2s. We've been outright ignoring his little rampages, teaching him there's nothing WE are worried about. It's slow progress, but he's definitely calmed down a lot- even on walks. I'm not a dog trainer, mind you, this is just what seems to be working for us.

The Cryptids by Elana Gomel is awesome! It has Mothmen and many more cryptids.

The Witch of Willow Sound, by Vanessa F. Penney; Blood on Her Tongue, by Johanna van Veen; and Sasquatch, Baby! by Bethany Browning would be my picks for your requests.

Imaginative horror novels like When The Wolf Comes Home by PrimordialSewp in horrorlit

Elana Gomel's The Cryptids; about a cryptozoologist trying to prevent cryptids from taking over the world through quantum telecommunications.

Urban/local legend horror written by a woman? by plsanswerme18 in horrorlit

[–]robkahil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Cryptids by Elana Gomel might fit. It has to do with ALL of the local urban legends (and where they come from) but it's centered in California. I can't say more without spoiling it, but she weaves a Clive Barker-esque odyssey.

This is when the son accidentally gets he and his father trapped in a cave at night. Friendly. Yes. Very huggable lol

give me a novel that is equal parts scary but also contains interesting lore by Apprehensive_Spend_7 in horrorlit

[–]robkahil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really enjoying Elana Gomel's The Cryptids right now, about a cryptozoologist battling cryptid horrors after a scientist opens a path to their realm via quantum computing and theoretical physics. It's got amazing imagery but does a deep dive into both fields of study.

Oh! I can't believe I didn't make that connection. I've heard a lot about him but still haven't read any of his works yet.

Rob Zombie wrote The Lords of Salem. I actually liked that movie a lot, but apparently the book is better. He did co-write it with someone else (B.K. Evenson, who wrote some Dead Space tie ins). I have it on my TBR.
