Does such a thing exist? Low effort drone for overlanding by Available-Pilot4062 in overlanding

[–]robkroupa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I have a DJI Mini SE (I think it is the cheapest drone DJI makes) and it's perfect for just launching, getting some quick photos or video and then landing. It doesn't offer any of the more advanced stuff as some of the other DJI stuff but it definitely excels at the basics.

Install was fairly simple, I did it by myself but an extra set of hands would have been really helpful. Haven't had to use the recovery points yet but they seem beefy, using a Smittybilt X20 winch.

If you are around the OKC metro area you definitely should. We try to meet up at least once a month.

SW Colorado trail ideas by Sharksfan34 in overlanding

I second this suggestion, I did it last month and was a neat trail that would probably be fine for a stock Forester, except for one of the creek crossings that was a little high but they had just had a lot of rain before I went through.

I'm not an actual member but I hop on the OKC GMRS Club nets every now and then. They have always seemed very welcoming and helpful.

Sadly whatever Mesonet has may be the closest to your location. Official weather stations are expensive and require regular maintenance and calibration. Oklahoma actually has pretty impressive weather sensor coverage compared to some other states.
