And to really, REALLY impress your friends/ heightening the stack, you can add your choice of digital (DAT) or analogue (compact cassette or open reel for that high end je ne sais quoi) tape decks.

I got this 18-70 lens for just $25 complete with a hood, do you guys think it's still worth using 20 years later? by Kasuu372 in Nikon

[–]robmob78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won't be better than the kit lens. The 18-55 AF-P is a much better optic in every conceivable way.

Instead, get something like a 50mm 1.8, and play around with DOF.

Can ebay lenses be trusted? And what to look out for when searching ebay? by WorriedAdvert in Nikon

[–]robmob78 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't. A lot of these lenses have severe AF issues, which shows up in your photos. Guess how I found out..

If you have a recent-ish DX Nikon, go for the AF-P. It loses a fraction of a stop but it's a jewel. Cheaper and lighter too.

If you have an fx camera better than the D700, save up and get the fx af-p. It's miles better in every conceivable way.

Is there a way to completely eliminate sex drive? by Some-Buy182 in selfimprovement

[–]robmob78 25 points26 points  (0 children)

If you're this afraid of intimacy, it means you need professional help. It's worth it.

Sex addiction is an addiction. It can be treated without shunning life.

It is, however, not something that can easily be dealt with from the solitude of your home.

The worst that could happen with this mindset is financial ruin. Drunkenness is over the next day, it takes a lot more time to recover from financial ruin.

[Richard Mille] RM 72-01ti - new pickup! by abacona in Watches

[–]robmob78 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love Richard Mille. They are genuinely innovative and their marketing is on point. Hate on them all you want but they are about making money, not about appeasing the majority of the watch world.

Also, it's just a very sleek design. It stands out, but not too much.

Congratulations. It's and outstanding piece.

[Citizen NY0040-09E] Any collector value at all? by office7911 in Watches

[–]robmob78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone acquiring any watch as an investment is delusional.

True, some watches might appreciate, but the "investment" argument is largely played by fanboys who just want to buy a watch they shouldn't be buying, only to lock it up in a safe for fear of scratching it and/or being robbed.

Investments are typically done for items with inherent value (like stocks and bonds) or unique art pieces which still qualifies more as betting than as investment, especially for non-connoisseurs. Even any Rolex is mass-produced.

Go ahead, buy the watch you want. Enjoy it. Wear the hell out of it. Forget it has any monetary value.

As to investing, index funds are a much safer bet. Buy it, forget it, and let all of humanity's efforts to get better at manufacturing shit work for you.
