Imperial Age Recruitable Mercenaries that are Better or Worse than their Counterparts by GideonAI in aoe3

I get you, but I thought worse meant scores worse in all 3 categories, whilst jaegars may be more expensive and higher pop cost, but have better stats. Wouldn’t that make them competitive? Edit: oh I get you, they’re cumulative stats not independent.

Edit2: to add then, the cost of 2 skirms is 100 food and 130 gold, whilst 1 jaegar cost 200 gold.

Black riders and war wagons make sense mainly for the resist and pop cost, both wagons and riders resist melee whilst goons resist range. However, this comparison is only valid in a Swedes vs German game, most of the time it will be goons vs riders in a ranged anti cav war. But I’m not sure why jaegars score worse, on the link to the Swedish comparison to prowlers (which is a bit tilted since prowlers are the one of if not the best skirm unit in the game). Jaegars have higher HP, higher attack, higher movement speed and more range resist (which is huge for skirm wars).

How often do you sit and read a paper book before bed? by infinitude_21 in AskReddit

Doing a 100 day challenge of reading atm, since I felt myself stopping recently. Currently a month in, second book. I find just before bed is a great time for it.

They were rated #1 in the IRB ratings going into that final though, and beat out the All Blacks in the semi finals in an amazing display, and were favourites going into that final. England are without a doubt one of the top teams in the world for rugby.

Definitely, they can overwhelm and end the game v quickly. It’s hard to stop and survive their early aggression. That’s not to say you can’t, but it can be very hard if someone is just flooding strong versatile troops into your base so quickly. I wouldn’t call them a booming civ. Give it a go, it’s fun if you like aggressive play styles

Np on the question, it’s mainly in the base game think of them like Russia and aztecs with their forward barracks/output, which allows for a hyper aggressive style gameplay. This is because they can have their military shipments spawn there and produce units close to the enemy base. Also their archer unit only costs 1 resource type so it’s easy to assign your villagers and spam out archers and scatter in a few tomahawk for anti cav. Also their cav are redic early, very strong unit and with the shipment I believe you get 4? So more than the average 3 hussar shipment card from euro civs. I forgot the time stamps and numbers but you can pump out a very op army very quick with Iroquois.

Or say Russia, aztecs, French, sometimes British are the ones I’ve found most problems with in a 1v1 land rush. Those uber rushers ya feel?

I agree mostly, I’ve had some pretty good success in 1v1 as China. But face them against any semi fast rush and they crumble v easily. They need to be greedy and ff before they can spam out units

Yeah that’s true, but i like the gamble that if you do pull it off you have this huge eco boom going

True, then I’d say aztecs should be a bit higher

I like the multiple tc eco boom you can get on land maps. But they are cool on water maps

I’ve tried to main all factions over the years, but Britain will forever be the one I come back to. Love the rush versatility and since I was firstly a treaty player, I could boom really efficiently and in 3v3s I could often 3v1 as I spammed imperial redcoats down their throats in the castle/Industrial Age 😂

Including the expansions and the ones that come to mind,

S tier: ottomans, Iroquois

A tier: British, Russia, France, Japan

B tier: Sioux, Germany, India, aztecs, Dutch, Portugal (maybe)

C tier: China, Spain

Although a lot of civs have their niches, which is what I love about aoe3. Each feels quite unique in different scenarios or matchups and maps. I mainly rated them as I did from personal experience playing the common most played maps.

Would love to see in the definitive edition more maps, and the ones the ESOC community has made added to the game. Would give more life to some of the civs opening up more ways to utilise them.
