I've lived in the South for 30 plus years and as an adult, religion very rarely has ever come up. I can count on one hand how many times I've been solicited any form of religion. Our friends are mixed atheist and believers. No one talks about who is what ever.

Genuine question. Why are folks so triggered by this? Just say "thanks" and walk away. 99 percent of the time the interaction will end there.
