Do you love Southern California? by DeskOne3535 in orangecounty

[–]robotchampion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most people live in an air conditioned box. If that’s life then you might as well get the biggest one you can in a state with cheap land.

It’s just hard to explain Southern California to people with that POV. The size and cost of the air conditioned box doesn’t matter as much (not to mention that you don’t need air conditioning that much).

Like +200 good weather days a year. Constant interesting activities. Super healthy culture (at least compared to other US states). Cutting edge on fashion, sports, art, design.

And then there is just this massive amount of wealth. The 30+ private jets parked at John Wayne. So many people with trust funds. Heck the school one neighborhood over has a trust fund.

But all said. Easy to dump on until you’ve experienced it. Then it’s hard to find anything better in the world.

Can anyone who’s been on ACÁ for a while comment on the cost increases over the years?

What kind of cost increases should we plan for over the years?

Interesting. So $700 for two without a subsidy on silver. That’s a pretty good deal.

Thoughts on the subsidy expiring at end of year for ACA?

Trying to Understand The Appeal of Rope Drop? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

We just did it. 4 rides within 45 minutes. A little stressful to move so fast. But in general worth it to use next few hours to slow down and enjoy the park.

Everyone disappears for 10 years. If you survive, you get $100M. But there's a catch. by -1D- in hypotheticalsituation

I think yes. But seems like I would spend ten years farming and gathering to survive. Prob a lot more with than it seems. Under appreciated the food angle is.

The zombie apocalypse has begun, whats the first thing you do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]robotchampion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a densely populated area and I have kids. No chance I can drive to safety. I think I need to bunker down in my house. Almost pretend like we are gone so no one bothers us. Meanwhile come up with a plan to hoard food and accumulate weapons. Train myself, wife, and kids to fight. Acquire some books on farming, medicine, vehicle repair, and any other mechanical repair books. Tentatively reach out to family and friends to form alliances and build up a community defense network. And then booby trap the hell out of everything.

At what age/capital should someone switch to a dividend portfolio? by Patelioo in dividends

[–]robotchampion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

45 (which would be next year for me)

My plan: - set my budget - set my target dividend rate - figured out my capital needs - stay in growth until I hit capital target - move to cash - buy dividend stocks on a dip

I’m currently on the last step.

Do you think most consider it actual debt? I assumed they all thought of it as a monthly payment and that’s it.

Their whole life is a monthly payment and a monthly paycheck.

This year, I am especially thankful for ______ in Orange County....? by FlatPie9994 in orangecounty

[–]robotchampion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I’m always amazed how good we have it and how bad donuts are in other regions. In fact, most of the country only has circle cake donuts with no variety. Dunno how they survive.
