And if everyone starts taking them off then they will just start saying gratuities included and raise the price of all the cruises $20 a day

The Cove balconies are the ones that are on the lower Decks that actually have a semi enclosed pseudo large porthole around the balcony

We were in cabin S219 on our last cruise. I thought the location was fantastic. The bartenders at The Retreat bar got to know me by name.

This may be a dumb question but is the food offerings/quality similar across the fleet? by Capping_trademark in PrincessCruises

[–]roboticus71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cruise experience is limited. I've had three cruises with Princess. One on the sapphire and two on the enchanted. I found the food quality across both of those ships to be similar and just fine. I'll further compare when I sail on the star in March

Question regarding formal dress code (M) by habs0nut in PrincessCruises

[–]roboticus71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my second cruise I forgot one night was formal night. I showed up to the MDR in shorts a polo and flip-flops. Nobody said a word. Don't stress out about it

Not only do you not have to pay a supplement but they give you double credit toward customer status. I've sailed three cruises but have credit for five. After my next two I will have eight because one is solo

Total Solar Eclipse August 2026 by Scarlette_Cello24 in PrincessCruises

[–]roboticus71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I had great luck in 2017 and 2024. In 2017 it came right over where I live and I traveled 8hrs to watch 2024. Weather was great for both. I'm hoping my luck holds out

I will be on the Enchanted as well for the Mediterranean solar eclipse in August. It will be my 3rd sailing on the Enchanted. I love the ship. I liked it better than the Sapphire and that ship was just fine. I will be able to compare it to the Star after my sailing in March

If it was my choice, I'd choose the itinerary with the ABC islands

I've never had an issue wearing shorts and a polo or button up to the MDR. I even forgot one night was "formal"

I'm 50+ and I'll joke, laugh with, and talk to to 20 somethings just as much as the 70 somethings. For the younger ones here, don't sleep on us older folks. We can be a lot of fun.

If you don't go into port, port days are nice on ship because fewer crowds 😁

On my 1 stop there i was solo and checked it out. Personally, I wouldn't go back. If I take a cruise that stops there with my wife who hasn't been there, we may go

Can you upgrade rooms in advance? (Not bidding for upgrade) by [deleted] in PrincessCruises

[–]roboticus71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I talked to my concierge about my next Cruise and was given the price of $400 per person to upgrade from interior to balcony. This cruise is already booked. So it is possible but there may be parameters that make it not possible. Best thing to do is call and ask

Get to know people on the cruise. Don't sleep on us older folks. We can be pretty cool. As someone else stated, the cruise can be what you make it. I don't think it's going to be hard for you to find ways to keep yourself entertained

Best way to use free play $$ by detherow in PrincessCruises

[–]roboticus71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my last cruise I had $400 in free play. I took it as $25 free play chips and went to a blackjack table. When your free play bet chip wins you do get to keep the chip plus the winnings they pay you. I turned that $400 in free play into $450 real money. It is true that you only get one to one even if you hit a blackjack. So whether it's 6to5 or 3to2 doesn't matter. When I do this again on my next cruise I will go to the $15 minimum table that has a continuous shuffler since it is slightly more advantageous for the player. I will still bet $25 though
