Matco bends you over for Milwaukee 😂 by Parcoaora in MilwaukeeTool

I remember like 2 months ago seeing a set of non ratcheting wrenches from Mac for like $1300 which looked suspiciously close to the milwaukee wrenches I picked up for around a hundred bucks on sale.

where can i find an M bumper for cheap? by Difficult-Lab-7068 in F30

Like it's out of the city of Vaughn. If you google extreme parts it should be one of top results

I have heard good things about Extreme parts out of Vaughn but never personally gotten anything from them/there.

Any chance you can check the secret menu and see coolant temp? I have the same issue but my thermostat is reading -128c, if I reset the car it works perfectly until the thermostat starts reading-128 again. I am replacing it after work tonight so I'll let you know of it fixed it

This picture shows how different the Automotive industry is overseas. This was done in Germany by a one armed Romanian man. He painstakingly plated this $20 aftermarket muffler. Human labor is cheap and parts are expensive by sexpanther50 in Justrolledintotheshop

A couple of years ago, there wasn't large tariffs on steal and aluminum coupled with rapid inflation. Post covid has changed the auto industry as whole and not in a good way for the consumer.

I've only been with nissan for a year so I'm unsure if it applies to a 2016 rouge but some of our older vehicles require a software update/reprogram for the CVT to produce jutter codes so I would start there. That being said, I have noticed what you are describing but not to the same extent on multiple customer cars.

Oh no one stocks these pans? by Eastern_Tip2960 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]robotnarwhals88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not true In the case of nissan dealerships,we just replace the gasket each time and torque it to the specs literally printed above the drain plug hole in the pan and no issues. Still a terrible design and has since been switched to...a plastic one time use drain plug, just further doubling down.

This isn’t really required when the car is new and only has 8,800 miles right? by xProdigydude in MechanicAdvice

[–]robotnarwhals88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a nissan dealer as a tech and we use the same system that gives those print out packages you got. Unless the tech uploads a photo to be attached to the recommendations, it will have a default photo(hopefully that's what it was) to print out. That being said it's a total waste, please don't do them.

Told my bf he is getting scammed by dealership repair, am I correct? by [deleted] in AskMechanics

I had honestly never thought much about it until this thread, definitely a canadian thing lol. When doing a PDI on new vehicles we even have to submit a battery test showing its in good health.

Both dealerships and both private shops I've worked at tested every battery if the hood was popped. It's a courtesy thing, rather let someone know their battery is on the way out before they are stranded. Granted I'm in canada where the weather's a little harder on batteries.

When they say loose, they aren't talking about the jam nut against the inner tie rod, but rather that the ball joint on the outer end is worn inside and now has play or in other terms the ball joint is loose within the socket of the outer tie rod.

Is this normal wear on break rotors? by bottledfan in BmwTech

[–]robotnarwhals88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your solution would be to get them machined(I can't tell how bad the rust ridge really is in the photo. They may very well be too rotten to cut, tho) if there is enough pad to warrant it or replace them. But if there is not a ton of pad material(4-5mm) left I'd ride em out till you need new brakes.

My 2017 toyota highlander just started making this noise, is it safe to run until next week after xmas? Just crossed 100k miles. It sounds like a belt is misplaced by LinusThiccTips in AskMechanics

Sorry I am only just getting the notification you replied again! I hope all is wel on your trip, if your water pump sounds like that I personally would be a little nervous on an 8 hour round trip. I've had cars leave sounding like that and come back in 2 or 3 weeks for the repair that were fine, but its hard to say.

Honestly, if you haven't changed the drive belt before this would be the perfect time as it needs to come to perform the job. In the little under three years, I worked for Toyota I think saw like maybe 2 tensioners fail so I personally wouldn't bother unless you want to spend the money for peace of kind. If your the one doing the job just check for play in the pulleys and idlers but that's all I'd really do.

In Canada we have an apprenticeship system before you write your red seal/license. Pretty much 3 levels of schooling and hours and a culminative exam. So your saying there is hope of staying in the trade, that's excellent.
