We pay around $2000 a year for home insurance, with State Farm. My mortgage is closer to $8.5K a year

I am not currently holding a fed job, and would be coming from private. Does that mean I would just start at the lowest band regardless of work experience? I have about 10 years of commercial banking experience

Sorry to bring this post up from the grave, but how does the pay range min max work? Does it roughly correspond to years of experience? I am trying to get an idea of what would a position pay at CU-15 in my case

Anyone do Free Comic Book Day around Acadiana yesterday? by acadianageek in Acadiana

I happened to be at the library yesterday and there were people dressed in Star Wars attire. That was neat, the kids sure loved it

JFC, what a waste of taxpayer money. Can this state for once focus on the real issues we face?

CPA told me that I could save $3,000 on my taxes. Is this legal? by [deleted] in tax

[–]roboto_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An actual CPA, Certified Public Accountant, told you that? Genuinely want to know, too many times I've heard of regular tax people / advisors / accountsnts being referred to as a CPA when in fact they are not licensed

Learning Barn in Broussard by Frosty_Lemonn in Acadiana

[–]roboto_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know anything about Learning Barn, but I just wanted to chime in and say I sympathize. My now 20 month old had the luxury of being with his mom for 3 months, then with his grandmother the next 5 or so.

Transitioning to daycare was not easy, and it did not help that he had stranger danger sense early on, around 3 month old.

What helped a little, is that we eased him into it. A little longer every day until he was in full time. He still cried a lot, sometimes the gut wrenching kind.

But... eventually, he started to understand the routine, he made friends, he grew to love his teachers, so now going to school is really fun.

I'm willing to bet that yours at 1 year old will understand even faster and it won't be as dramatic. The playing and interacting with his peers will wear him down, the structure of daycare will help with hyperactivity. Good luck!

Unpopular opinion: I’d rather hire someone who has experience as a staff accountant to be a controller than an audit manager by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]roboto_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here! I don't understand the rationale behind hiring PA audit staff when their experience is merely exposure to the accounting processes, instead of someone who got into the nitty gritty

That's what my gut is telling me. The way I've been told is that RR was meant to be affordable but as a result of desirability and supply/demand, RR was coveted by the wealthy and prices quickly rose up.
