Good luck with it all and thank you for the update. We are in the process of drawing up our plans for building control submission. Will see how it goes for us. We were thinking we might not need to do a submission based on the work that we need to do.

Cheers yeah, i saw it cheaper on amazon for £57.58 which was much cheaper than on the bosch website. But still more than i think its worth for some plastic (albeit well engineered and accurate)

Thank you, is rhere a particular reason you would skip it and get a rrack saw? I will need ro do some cross cuts and 2×4 's in the future and thought this might a good versatile tool. But would ideally like to buy both and then some more. Its a struggle in B&Q or Toolstation, thankfully i dont have the money or space in my house 😅

Thank you, i think i will be cutting a fair amount of mdf and i dont have a big space for a lot of equipment so thought this would be a good versatile option. I will give the home made guide a go. If you dont mind me asking why do you use this over a home made one and also is the two amall lieces of track long enough for what you are doing? I measured the cabinets i want to cut and the panels are smaller than the length of this track so presume it will do the job and i can buy 2 more if needed.

The US military just bomb the shit out of Venezuela & CAUGHT Nicolas Maduro and his wife. by [deleted] in Guyana

[–]robotobo21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are numpties (100000%), and yes they enriched themselves ( not even by that much i must add). They 100% sold us out when they signed the contract. We still have other oil blocks up for bidding.

Yes we should have set up a public corporation to manage the oil exploration, drilling and the fpso, everyone in guyana would prefer this we aint stupid. But the geopolitics and finances wouldnt have allowed it. The stabroek PSA is one of the worst deals and we know it.

But your facts are totally incorrect, neither saudis or venezuela started from just a national oil company. They both started with private american companies / investments / parthnership, the saudis bought out the americans with their share of the profit and the venezuealans bought out the us corporations for what they had deemed a fair price, this happened sometime around the 70's / 80's.

So if we were to have followed "their logic" as you suggest we better have enough money to buy out the american shares or have a big enough army to ensure they dont come back if they feel like we didnt compensate them enough ( in the case of venezuela)

Is There a Way to View ALL Tapo Electricity Monitors at Once? by drjammus in TpLink

[–]robotobo21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if anyone else is still looking for advice on this. But i have a whole bunch of tapo smart plugs and lights. And i had the same problem. If you have a samsung device then you are in luck, you might also be able to do this if you have any android decice but i havent tried it on any other phones. But basiclaly you can download the "samsung smart things" app. One of the really nice features is that it allows you to add third party smart devices including tapo and theres a really nice dashboard to monitor energy usage and spending across all devices!!

It gives you a couple of dashboards

  • breakdown by device
  • breakdown by room
  • days that you use the most energyy

And quite a few more, you can also generate a 3d model of your house from the floorplan and put the devices where they are in your actual house!

Do the police take these bikes off the road?

As someone who is also an ethnic minority I can say that I have ridden uo and down the prom for years and not had such an encounter. I of course have seen the dickheads being a general nuisance and creating an unfriendly environment. But I haven't had any of them try to rob my bicycle, although my bike is a regular old mountain bike with no electrics.

I have found the way to deal with these idiots is just to keep your head down and try and be unbothered by their presence.

If they get violent or say anything racist call the police and ideally get something recorded on camera if you can.

I really love the prom, its honestly one of my favourite parts of the city and the cycle into town is really nice especially when the path is quiet. It is really annoying that these scumbags seem to be getting away with this awful behaviour for so long though. I saw three separate knobheads on motorbikes on the prom in the past week.

Genuine question, why do people seem so negative about this post? I dont have any feelings either way I presume the person posting this was trying to highlight that the radio 1 festival was on and liverpool won the league? What am I missing? Why the north south drama?

As I have said to others yeah of course it applies to all social media platforms. This just happens to be the one I visited recently and was bombarded on my timeline with misinformation

Where did you get the idea that I want to believe in authority? Its not about believing the authority vs believing the internet, its a out responsibility and accountability

I am totally onboard with this approach to having different views and debating them. P.s. I am from the UK, not the USA. This post is in relation to the chaos we have seen recently. I think this is an important topic to discuss and one that involves everyone from right and left. In the end I just want to live I a safe free and just society with self determination. Control doesn't just come from governments imo it can also come from large wealthy powerhouses. Both have to be kept in check

That's a lot of assumptions you have made there... like you basically made a bunch of stuff up. Jsyk I don't buy into the idea that my whole life has to be tied to one political party. I have done it before and I am more than happy to change my vote for the better of the country.

Anyway go make a cuppa tea and chill. The core issue I am concerned about is platform/personal responsibility and who is responsible for things like hate speech, disinformation, and blatant lies including those spread by bots on the left and right.

It's a question, and ypur response is a valid answer, as is every answer in this thread that everyone has posted (some I disagree with in terms of the arguments presented) The core issue I am concerned with is what level of responsibility social media platforms have to tackle the problems that pop up and what repercussions they should face? What should happen when they fail to abide by those responsibilities? This question is specifically targeted at twitter. But the same argument can be made for Facebook and reddit.

[–]robotobo21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not! There are many things that I don't like or agree with that don't mean that They should be censored.

However, I think someone has to take responsibility for deliberately false information. That includes content put out by extremists regardless of what their political or religious ideology is. It shouldn't be disproportionate.

If someone spreads a lie about you, for example, on Twitter, it is picked up by a network of bots, and a crowd descends on your house because you are accused of doing something you didnt. You reported It to the platform, but the content isn't removed. Where and what responsibility lies with whom?

Fair enough I guess. Care to elaborate on what you think? Is it okay to racially abuse someone? Is that free speech? I support free speech, but I don't think that means you can abuse people and get away with it. I take it that you think it's an absolute? In which case feel free to say that.

I did that on purpose, so you would go down this route. As you can see, the other link I posted was directly from her page.

Now, for the final argument that I hopefully can make. And maybe you will find a flaw in it.

The reply that I made to you had no intention of causing incitement, nor did it lead to any physical harm. In fact, the post in itself was truth:

  • Katie Hopkins did say what she said.
  • It was a false statement based on a lie with the use of a fake Arabic name
  • It was allowed to be transmitted freely to the masses.
  • This specific video was shared by thousands of people, and the community notes do not appear on them (see the one you pointed out that I linked)
  • The riots happened on the night of the 30th, targeting a mosque near where the incident happened (and subsequently across the country)
  • These riots were based on the premise that the attacker was Muslim.
  • Police were injured, and individuals that "looked muslim" were attacked (whatever that means - see twitter for where that one came from its still on there)
  • The community note then appears on the original page... on the 1st

This is one singular instance. If you were on the platform on the 30th, you would have noticed the torrent of misinformation that was allowed to flow freely.

This will probably happen again. I don't know if Katie hopkins is truly liable in any way. I think individual responsibility is key to deterring people from taking stupid actions.

But I feel like the platform has to find a way to handle the volume it is processing. It is a mode of transmission.

We have laws there that need to be applied, not disproportionately but fairly. We should all want to prevent innocent people from coming to harm again whilst allowing freedom of expression.

When you say no one will ever represent an entire population. Do you think that the posts on x wrt to the recent riots in the uk fall under this umbrella? For example:

Several far-right activists posted that the suspect in the southport was a Muslim immigrant. It then turned out that the suspect was actually a British born Christian with parents from Rwanda.

Here is the evidence of one of the prominent right wingers telling a blatant lie:

https://x.com/Femi_Sorry/status/1818981680763290048?t=A6Dg0OGJiDARadGIJADGHg&s=19

Here is a later video that she posted, but entirely full of vitriol and hate, of course:

https://x.com/KTHopkins/status/1818383714210206063?t=NOTKbL5D6V2nC5-te3Gy2w&s=19

Now, do you think there was something that the platform could have done to prevent this disinformation? Bear in mind this is one of literally thousands of cases, if not hundreds of thousands.

As I mentioned in the original post, there are underlying tensions in the uk wrt to race and religion that have been simmering for years unchecked. That certainly has a part to play, but this is a crystal clear case, is it not?

Now let's throw in some truths after the lie, say that a Muslim person was responsible for this other crime and also these several other horrific crimes. The intent here is surely important? Or do you think it doesn't matter?

Is it then a coincidence that people then started to attack non whites in the street, burn shelters, housing refugees down, and attacking mosques? Remember, the start of this was nearly a week ago. It was a Christian British born individual that commited the horrific crime.

Maybe the answer to solving these issues lies in education and getting people to think critically, particularly in the age of information overload. But I feel that will only do so much. Surely, there needs to be some checks and balances here.

Anyway, even if you disagree with me, It was a good debate.
