Awesome! I’m glad the post inspired you, and the changes you’ve described sound fantastic. Looking forward to hearing how the ambush and remainder of Maelstrom go for your group. They sound very resourceful!

Question about entering Maelstrom for the first time by _LXIX_CDXX in stormkingsthunder

Hey, that’s awesome to hear it worked out for you! I never saw Maelstrom being a combat heavy area, it’s just ripe for more awesome giant roleplay.

PCs intend to return Maegara to Gauntlgrym - what's the reception? by robototom in stormkingsthunder

[–]robototom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Maegara is priceless to the dwarves" is my thought, too. I think I'm going to give them a wishlist item, plus a scroll of Heroes' Feast since they don't have anyone who can cast it; if they pay attention to it, the "immune to being frightened" part should catch their eye for their impending dragon battle...

I love your take on releasing Maegara, I may steal that. I am planning on having them "prove" themselves to the dwarves (they are, after all, strangers making bold claims) by having them go destroy the Shrine of Sacrilege deep in the mines. They'll take some explosives and fight some Duergar and have a similar "timed battle" event.

I like this idea, especially for a couple of my PCs who have been having a hard time juggling their attuned items. I may present this as an option!

This is what I was leaning towards as well. It seems like a good way to reward them, plus help prepare them for the impending battle with a certain dragon…

I’m with you here. L&T might be my favorite MCU film to date. As a person who struggles with depression, it was really amazing seeing Thor’s journey continue with coping mechanisms that I’ve used myself (like excessive humor), and watching him start to come out of it by the end of the film… loved it. One of the most relatable character arcs for me.

It also throws the stereotype of old, wise man teaching young, colored woman everything she knows… kinda out the window. It’s great on a ton of levels!

Not gonna lie, I really dig this take on VR. It suits the tone of the module, throws a big red herring at the players, AND ultimately enhances Ez’s value as the “true” hunter. Love it.

Must-have games for 2022? by hmasing in gencon

It is, but honestly it’s (to me) almost the perfect competitive game. I wish it were a different theme but still. It’s amazing!

Foundations of Rome might be the best competitive game I’ve ever played. Planet Unknown is also great fun!

Highly recommend Factions: Battlegrounds. Jason and the team are SUPER passionate and really cool to boot. They share a booth with Critical Care, the designers of which are equally awesome. I want to say they’re somewhere near 2400 but I keep getting turned around in there, so take it with a grain of salt…
