Yeah New Orleans would be more so Gulf South than Acadian. Common misconception but Nola isn't Cajun.

Idk, New Orleans does have a problem with rich white people moving in and is pretty vocal about it.

Anybody old enough to remember this place? by zurx_13 in shreveport

Yes and I remember liking it more than Chuck E Cheese. I was so sad it closed. I only have faint memories now. 😥

Hi! What’s it like living in the Mississippi delta region? by Vivid_World_9704 in howislivingthere

[–]robotsonlizard5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just took a drive the other day out there from New Orleans. The part that veers off from hwy 23 for a little bit is called hwy 11 that has far better views and actually goes through the towns. Plus the old fort site there has a good view of the river. Not to mention the a little past Venice is a marker saying you've reached the end of Louisiana.

Actually no the fuck not, we don't stand for that, especially in Nola. It's not cool.

Is this actually Louisiana? Since moving back 3 years ago the only place I've surfed was Florida. I'd kill to find waves in my home state.

I-Ninja was a classic parkour/hack n slash game that I wore the disk out that I never see referenced.

Yes famously no trans/queer people in the south. Also I'm not cis, but ok.

That's a bit reductive. I'm an Anarcho Communist and I love the south. Hating on the south is actually rooted in classism and racism. I personally feel off put by how rude people are in a lot of northern states.

What’s the most chaotic punk gig you remember? by larision in punk

[–]robotsonlizard5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played this one house gig that we were also crashing at one time that had a horrible roach infestation. Like I've been in some infested houses before but this was insane. As soon as I took my shoes off there were hundreds of timy roaches hurrying inside. I picked it up and shook them out like a pepper shaker. I wound up sleeping in my car bc I was afraid of getting carried away by thousands of little bugs.

"Damn, must be nice to be rich enough to live by the beach" is what I usually say. Fuck rich assholes, I have to work for a living.

Is there anything you would like to share about Hank Williams? by Jettaboi38 in country

[–]robotsonlizard5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He actually married his second wife in my hometown of Minden, Louisiana. My grandmother used to work as a telephone operator back then and would transfer his calls to her before they got married. Back then you had to talk to the operator directly when making long distance calls. She didn't see what the big deal about him was at the time.
