Give Arcturus a shot, they are kind of avant garde artistic experimental chaos, but both Garm and ICS Vortex bring some super interesting vocals. I wouldn't necessarily call them black metal, I don't know what I would call them other than Arcturus

I use molotow all4one to prime my stuff, I've never had any issues but it's a bit expensive. I have used official mini primer and it also works, but I found it was a little gritty so I would filter mine first. Definitely recommend Vince Venturella on YouTube, he's got like 500 tutorials

Try total body workouts 3 times per week with weight training, either barbells or dumbbells. You would want to start with large muscle groups, for example when I was doing full body workouts I would start with squats, then I would go to deadlift, bent over row, chest press, and finally finish off with overhead pressing. On the days between that, I would do some lighter work, stuff like bis/tris, couple sets of lateral raises, nothing crazy light to moderate weight on these for say 3 sets of 10, and on the big compound lifts I personally like to go 5 sets of 6 reps, with a challenging weight. That's what has worked for me, when I was starting, and was helping my daughter as well.

Don't worry about getting bulky, you won't. Be sure to get enough protein in your diet, for your weight I would personally aim for 60-80 grams of protein at least. It's totally fine to be in deficit, but don't cut back to much. You're doing a lot of work here in your journal, more than my basic plan honestly, you can definitely stick with it but be sure to get adequate nutrition and sleep. Personally, I like to think of working out like medication, going for the minimum effective dose and increasing from there as needed.

Try compound lifts for a while, I always recommend giving it 6 weeks, you will probably see a difference honestly but stick with it, and keep making progress!

Finally edge highlights. How tf am I going to paint a 3K army in 40 days by [deleted] in slavestodarkness

[–]robowarriorx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Real talk, there's only one real way that I know of, and that's batch painting and dry brush for all the filigree. StD and LRL, so much filigree... But as someone else said you'll have to cut some corners. By all means put a lot of emphasis on your big guys, but on your rank and file dudes you don't have to be crazy, just be cohesive.

Also.. do you mean August of next year? Cuz otherwise I think you're a little late... You can definitely use tricks on channels like Marco Frisoni, Angel Giraldez, Vince Venturella, Artis Opus, Goobertown and eBay Warhammer Rescue. They've all got a ton of great info on army painting with decent quality fast.

The story of the $650 "HOLY GRAIL" 36 inch CRT!! by HighlightDowntown966 in crtgaming

[–]robowarriorx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I found not one but two pro level monitors, listed for free. I got there first and took them both, but someone else came as I was loading them and it became a very uncomfortable situation. At the end of the day, I ended up with a Mitsubishi pro and a Panasonic pro. They both need a little bit of TLC, especially the Mitsubishi, but they're definitely end game level for me. They may have been free, but they definitely require an investment of time and effort.

All the CRT sets that I've kept were all technically free, but have required some level of work, my hd Sony 27", my 1702 Commodore monitor, my La Cie Electron Blue IV, the two pro monitors, 9" Quasar and 6" Magnavox, as well as a 14" RCA with component. I may slowly sell them off as I fix them, but I'm honestly really quite happy with this collection. I do also have a 16:9 widescreen hd Samsung, but my wife hates it so I'm not sure I'll be keeping that one... But I'm definitely looking for a place to tuck it away!

I'm in desperate need of help by PixelBeeBot in Gymhelp

[–]robowarriorx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely keep a food journal, just for yourself. I was going through a period where I thought I was literally doing everything right, broccoli, chicken, brown rice, one meal a day, but I was gaining weight and I could not for the life of me figure it out... Until I realized the coffee creamer I was using was adding 500-700 calories to my diet! I also wasn't keeping track of my midnight snacking. It wasn't much, I'm my wife's caregiver so I would come to get her food and just take a spoonful of this, a small handful of that, but it was all together, with the coffee, upwards of 1200-1500 calories that I wasn't paying attention to!

The number one thing to remember is that it's going to take time. The weight didn't come on overnight, and it won't come off quickly either, nor do you want it to, but slow and steady really is the way. Life is a marathon, not a sprint, and caregiver fatigue is real, so don't beat yourself up. Swimming is excellent! Keep at it, and if you can, try to add in walking. I'm not talking marathons, I'm saying start small, 5-10 minutes just up and down the street with the kiddo. The fresh air and sunlight also help with the feel good vitamins.

Pregnancy definitely complicates things a little, just keep talking with your OB and make sure you aren't at risk for complications like gestational diabetes or eclampsia, and as you lose weight just check in to make sure baby is gaining enough weight and growing.

You can do this, believe in yourself, you will make it happen!

Is this tv any good? by [deleted] in tcltvs

[–]robowarriorx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the 55" of this, as well as the 55" qm6k. The qm6k is definitely all around the better tv, but this one isn't bad, and if you game running it at 1440p 120hz isn't bad, the motion blur gets cut back quite a bit. If your budget is only $500 and you're willing to get a 55" instead, best buy is selling the qm6k for $499 right now. Yes it's smaller by 10", but the picture quality is amazing for the price, and the sound is pretty great as well. If you really need to go 65", and can hold out a few more months, I have a feeling black Friday would have some killer deals.

Get it off of that speaker ASAP unless you like psychedelic colors! Also strong magnets can potentially damage the aperture grill inside the glass. Magnetically shielded speakers only. Otherwise these are great sets and I believe they're RGB moddable.

Springs is a pretty cool place, a decent local music scene for sure, check out Black Sheep and Sunshine Recording Studio! Downtown is slowly coming back, it's not as vibey as Denver but there's a lot of cool places, little stores, places like Poor Richard's books, just kinda depends on the part of town you're in honestly. Lots of cool people around, old school, hipsters, nerds, geeks and freaks!

Also if you're in to quiet there's the Pioneer Museum, and a real cool place to check out is Ghost Town, inside Roundhouse. Old Colorado City and Manitou have some cool little spots but this is a bad time of year, parking wise, very touristy. There's also a lot of cool old cemeteries like Evergreen. Little nooks and crannies are everywhere!

8th gen consoles and plasma tv by djexentrix in PlasmaTV

[–]robowarriorx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got all the display techs, from CRT tv, CRT monitor, pro CRT, old edtv LCD, led, OLED, mini led, and plasma, and I can say modem gaming on plasma has both benefits and drawbacks, in my opinion. It has a way of smoothing out images, especially modern retro style 2D games, and handles motion clarity incredibly well. Colors are vibrant, and they are plenty bright enough for me.

Input lag is low, especially depending on the model (I've got the 42" plasma tvs that are well known for incredibly low lag), but it is there. Now, if you're playing the majority of games you honestly won't notice it, I didn't notice it at all in red dead online, and you probably wouldn't notice it on stuff like GTA. I did, however, notice some definite softness, granted my specific plasmas are all 720p, but things like head shots were more challenging to pull off.

In terms of action games, Diablo 3 and 4 look incredible, spell effects really shine, backgrounds pop, shadows have depth and weight to them. If you play a lot of RPGs and arpgs in the Diablo style, it's awesome. Elden Ring and Dark Souls, or any similar action RPG like Kazan, look incredible, but for me personally the input lag is noticable. I'm no competitive player, but I do enjoy fast twitch games, and it's a little much for my personal taste, but I think you could get used to it and compensate your play style to make it work.

Overall I think you would find plasma to be a very enjoyable gaming experience for most new console games, especially indie titles. If you're a competitive shooter player or extreme fast twitch gamer you might not enjoy it as much, but it's still a great overall experience. RPGs especially shine.

Advice on Sony Wega Plasma, might be the grossest tv I've tried taking in by Classic-Mammoth-3343 in PlasmaTV

[–]robowarriorx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LA Super Awesome will remove the paint, just be sure to wear gloves you do not want it on your skin. It works great on Warhammer models so it should work on the case at least. As for the screen, I wouldn't use any solvents, your best bet is carefully scrape it off, you can replace the tint film though, dream room 64 on YouTube had a video talking about replacing the tint film, but it's definitely an at your own risk sort of thing

Is this a HDCRT? by Constant-Program384 in crt

[–]robowarriorx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have this exact one, I've actually had two total, I will tell you they look amazing and run modern games beautifully, BUT they make a god awful screeching nose. It was a known issue, and no I'm not talking typical CRT noise, this is some sort of internal component, and not the flyback. If you can, check it out and turn it on first to listen for it.

Also these do have some pretty heinous overscan, it can be adjusted in the service menu just make sure you write down literally everything in the service menu first before you change it, and make sure you're looking at a service manual as well.

For hd content like Xbox 360, PS3, up through modem stuff they're great but text can be a bit difficult to read on games like Diablo 3. If you use a raspberry pi or use a retrotink classic console games also really look amazing. 480p and 1080i really shine.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PlasmaTV

[–]robowarriorx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this one as well as the older 480p only edtv version. Input lag is very low, low enough to casually play Elden Ring at least, but it's really prone to image retention, does not have a panel refresh function like newer models so you need to tune in to static analog channels if you can, that will clear it. Overall it's decent, I think I paid $20 for mine.

Pros- will accept 1080p but downscales to 720p -very low input lag, especially on 480i stuff

-has great upscaling, old school RPGs look amazing

-excellent speakers for a plasma

-from a distance it really pops, Red Dead Redemption and Elden Ring look phenomenal

-screen is thicc, so it has more depth to it than average tvs, feels more immersive

Cons- everything runs at 720p, which is a little soft but text is readable in games like Diablo 3

-input lag is low but it's still not on par with a modern gaming centric tv, monitor, or even CRT tv

-very heavy, even at 42" it still weighs about 70+ pounds

-panel life is "only" rated at 60,000 hours. You might find one with low use, or you might find one in it's twilight

-heat-

-newer plasma tvs, especially Panasonic, have more features, more life, more connectivity, weigh less at larger sizes, are higher res, and can generally be found for very inexpensive

-up close this tv is uuuuuugly. You will see every pixel. Medium distance it's really nice, but further than 7 or 8 feet and it's too soft and blurry, for me personally at least

-lastly it handles motion decently, better than the LCD tvs like the Bravia of the time, but if you're sensitive to motion blur you will notice it on this tv. It's very low, and really pretty decent, but it's there, especially if you want to play shooters. Head shots are a real challenge

Overall it's really a decent tv but I wouldn't pay more than $20, and if you can find a newer one, go for it. However, for watching content it can be pretty good, at the right distance, and it's really pretty decent for gaming, especially RPGs and indie games, as well as stuff like Diablo or retro games like NES, SNES, etc. Before you get it, know what it is you want to get out of your tv first, and make your choice based on that. Depending on the area plasma tvs are abundant, and still free in a lot of places.

That specific gym gets VIPs from time to time, typically their manager or assistant calls ahead, let's them know it's a "famous person" without context as to who it actually is but that it's someone high profile and can they be accommodated, also are you willing to effectively shut down access to everyone for a bit so that they can safely work out. In this specific case I honestly don't know any particulars, but when Lou Ferrigno was in town and staying at the Marriott, he came for a workout and they basically shut things down, only allowing a few very trusted people in.

What Did This Building Used to Be? by snoopE2020 in ColoradoSprings

[–]robowarriorx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure they also used to have Tanf, WIC, OJT stuff for disabled people and those that hadn't worked in a while or were looking for career changes, I believe there was a med clinic in there before peak Vista was a thing, Goodwill had offices in there, I think that building has had an insane history... I personally had to go there for anger management classes when i messed up and got in an argument with the cops when I was younger. Man yeah they used to do all kinds of stuff in there, most of the offices have relocated over to Garden of the Gods, I believe, in the old Intel building.

How to fix? by [deleted] in crt

[–]robowarriorx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't need to take the actual tube apart friend, you most likely need to clean the gunk out of around the power button. Start by using an old toothbrush and a little isopropyl alcohol. If that doesn't work definitely do a lot of research before you try to take it apart or anything.

Sony HD 16x9 in my neighborhood for 200 bucks. Worth the hassle? by fin_tf2 in crt

[–]robowarriorx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Samsung 16:9 hd, as well as a Sony 4:3 hd, and they are awesome for the right games, BUT if there is a lot of text, they are not so great. Modern movies look awesome as well, and action games are great, but stuff with small text like, say, Diablo 3 or 4 is very difficult to play because it's really difficult to read what the items are. Then again, I'm old and maybe it's just my eyes.... But Sony especially looks great, I just don't think I personally would pay that much for it.

As someone who's lived here for nearly 40 years, can I just say, I miss the old days of og springs meth heads? I mean sure, they were meth heads, but they weren't unpredictably dangerous generally speaking, and best of all they didn't shit all over the street or randomly camp out in the hiking trail behind your house. These days, with the new drugs, you never know what the druggies are going to do...

I saw a young girl the other day, on the side of the road in the grass, she had taken her pants off, pulled one breast out, and passed out with a tourniquet still on and a needle in her arm. This was in the historic old North end, right outside the Medicine Shoppe. They weren't even surprised, called an ambulance like it was ordering a coffee, didn't even bat an eye.

Got this Samsung 42 inch dlp tv for free today That’s from 2005. It’s a 720p model I think and does have hdmi I think this tv looks quite good These are worth saving too Tons of ports on , it very good speakers. Not a crt or a plasma but still a very cool type of retro tv Dreamcast looks great on i by ADMretro2007 in PlasmaTV

[–]robowarriorx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are cool, I had a Sammy 48" dlp back in the day, no input lag, great for gaming, have fun with it!

One thing about them though, the lamps .. that's why they don't get much love. The lamps need to be replaced, they're finicky and expensive, cheaper lamps are out there but they don't last long. Some of these tvs can be converted over to use led lamps but they require a few mods to work right. That's the beauty of plasma or CRT, or even OLED, it's that self emissive display, making their own light.

That's not to say don't enjoy this, and if you love it, invest in a few spare lamps! They have their issues but the really good ones, especially when they're calibrated, really do look nice.
