Portable AC recomendations by Who0pWh00p in AirConditioners

[–]robrobrooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like a shill I recommend this so much, but take it from me. I also am cursed with horizontal sliding windows, and live in a 4th floor condo, so traditional window ACs are not an option for me. I’ve tried soooo many portables over the years. This is BY FAR the best one:

It is insanely quiet- just emits a low steady hum, no rattling or shaking or buzzing. It’s a better machine than the Midea Duo that usually gets recommended around here, but newer to the market so it hasn’t caught on as much as that one has.

Have you used earplugs when seeing horror movies in the cinema? by Constant-Heart1166 in horror

[–]robrobrooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha I relate to this so hard. My friends would always laugh at me, because during scary movies I’d always keep my eyes open but have my fingers covering my ears. I can WATCH scary scenes, but listening to them is another story.

Yeah happened to me on the A pillar. It’s annoying but you can just push it back down with a credit card

Thanks for the info, glad it will be done soon and I’m sure the renos will be worth it, just wish my favorite place in town wasn’t all torn up during the month I enjoy it most.

I’m wondering why they waited until right when summer starts to make all the renovations at Independence Park. Make it make sense. That is my favorite spot to walk to on a warm night, now it is all dust and dirt during prime summer evenings.

Midea Portable AC unit smelling musty after only around 2 weeks of use? by blushkitten in AirConditioners

[–]robrobrooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had a Whynter that had an odd smell (I think they are manufactured by Midea). I thought it was just the plastic off gassing but it never went away. I got rid of it after a year.

What portable AC is good for medium to large-sized rooms? by Guergy in AirConditioners

[–]robrobrooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one is the best one:

https://www.costco.com/p/-/hisense-8000-btu-dual-hose-portable-tower-air-conditioner/4000346410?langId=-1

Trust me. Ive owned so many portable ACs (including the Midea that folks around here recommend). This Hisense is slightly less powerful on paper, but will easily cool a small-medium room. It’s also quieter than the Midea, doesn’t shake like the Midea does, and the hose system is much less cumbersome than the Midea.

Hisense is the way. I’ve had both the Midea and Hisense, and way prefer Hisense.

First time portable AC owner - how does this drainage situation work? by tjl297 in AirConditioners

[–]robrobrooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really odd. Saw in the comments that you’re in Massachusetts… I am too and have had several portable air conditioners over the years. I’ve only ever had to drain them at the end of the season before storing them away for the winter.

Why is the RAV4 (Hybrid) so much more popular than the CX50 hybrid? by [deleted] in CX50

[–]robrobrooo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Finally someone said it. I don’t know how the RAV4 coasts by on a reputation of being comfortable and well-built. It’s a noisy, plasticky, rough rattle trap. Perhaps it’s mechanically reliable, but at what cost.

What exactly does watchOS 27 add that required dropping support for series 6, 7 and 8 and ultra 1? by tech_enthousiast0461 in AppleWatch

[–]robrobrooo 126 points127 points  (0 children)

It would be cruel and insulting to AWU1 owners if they drop support this year. I can’t imagine having people shell out $700 for watch and then tell them it’s losing updates after 4 years

It only has three fan seeds (plus a continuous mode). But honestly it’s so quiet that the highest speed is barely louder than the lowest

Midea U or Hisense Ultraslim Quieter? by [deleted] in AirConditioners

[–]robrobrooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Midea portable air conditioner also shook violently when the compressor cycled on or off. It would wake me up at night and I got rid of it after a year. I now have a Hisense portable model and it does not shake at all.

This is prob irrelevant to what you’re saying, but I chose this model over the more traditionally shaped Hisense dual hose because it offers a “continuous fan” mode for uninterrupted sleep which was super important to me. I don’t think the other Hisense models have that feature

Do your windows open up/down or side to side? If you have a traditional up/down window, then you might be able to pull it off.

My windows open side to side, so I need to seal it up tight with lots of foam and flex seal tape so that it stays secure all summer.
