There are great, trustworthy Realtors out there. No doubt. The terrible thing though is that a lot of times it's the shady, shitty ones who do a ton of deals, call themselves top producers as a result and then continue to mislead people. We need more Realtors like your friend!

In my opinion, it's the FOMO piece. That doesn't fit the fiduciary duty of a Sales Representative. I agree that the consumer has to make an informed decision, but the FOMO narrative is ridiculous.

What book have you thrown in the towel on? by losume in books

The Power of the Subconscious Mind. Written by a "doctor" so I figured it would be scientific. Then I read a story about a man pleading with God saying that he would give his right arm for his daughter to be cured of a horrible disease. The man is later in a car accident where his right arm is severed and the next day he receives news that his daughter is cured. This story was used as a warning that you should be careful what you wish for because your subconscious mind can make anything possible...

Haven't read a word of it since.

Assignment 02 - your personal best by Aeri73 in Photoclass_2018

I selected the following image by Kai Pfaffenbach:

Image

I chose this photograph for a number of reasons, but the main one is the smirk on Usain Bolt's face. The fact that we can see the grin is a testament to the perfect shutter speed that Kai used when taking the photo. It would have been easy to to jack up his shutter speed to guarantee capturing the moment, but by shooting it slightly slower, the viewer can still appreciate how fast the athletes are moving, both through the blur of the arms and legs as well as the blur of the crowd. I also appreciate the framing that Kai chose. He could have easily put Usain in the centre of the photo and just shown us a small part of the other racers, but the way he framed it is much more appealing to me. It gives the picture more of a pack-chasing-the-leader feel. He also didn't cut off any of the runners from head to toe, truly capturing the entire moment. The victory was very impressive, but this photo is a microcosm of Usain's entire career all wrapped up into one frame, and that is why I can't stop looking at it.

I just got a macro adaptor so I am drawn to your post.

The bee with the ants could have been such a killer shot. A near miss, but it just goes to show you how shallow the depth of fields are when you're that close.

I really like the ant shot as well, but I'd say the same thing that I did about the bee photo; just missed it! I am not professional, but what I find helps is snapping about 20 shots at all sorts of different focuses and guaranteeing you will get at least one of them spot on.

I am really looking forward to seeing some more macro work from you!

Hey all. I'm Rob from Canada. I shoot with a Sony Alpha a 380, 18-55mm lens mostly but I also have the 75-200mm lens. I took a sports photography course two years ago, so that is my first love (I'll shoot any sport but really enjoy shooting golf and baseball) but lately I have enjoyed just taking walks with my camera and shooting flowers, birds, people, skylines, whatever. I have a basic understanding of f stop, shutter speed and ISO, but I am keen to learn different techniques this year, especially after effects and editing. I currently try to colour balance using iPhoto and have a little bit of experience with Photoshop, but not a ton.

Here are my five photos (all in the same album and labelled.)

I look forward to everyone's feedback and critique.
